Role summary:
We're on a mission to change how the world sees Walmart and make a real difference in people's everyday lives. AI is growing fast, and we're scaling our team to lead responsible adoption, protect creative craft and accelerate high-quality content at scale. As an Associate Creative Director, AI Specialist, you'll lead how Walmart Creative applies, governs, and evolves AI across creative workflows. You'll set the strategic direction for human-in-the-loop AI, translate emerging capabilities into practical tools, standards, training and guardrails. You'll partner across many functions and teams to ensure AI-enabled work protects Walmart's brand voice, craft, compliance and customer trust.
About the team:
Walmart Creative (WC) serves as the in-house creative agency for Walmart, delivering innovative omnichannel brand design systems that align with customer needs and business goals. The team focuses on enhancing the customer experience across channels, categories, campaigns, and touchpoints through insight-driven creative strategies and integrated solutions. Emphasizing talent, innovation, curiosity, collaboration, and results, WC strives to maintain Walmart's position as a leading brand. The team is dedicated to using creativity and design to make Walmart a preferred choice while supporting the company's mission to help people save money and live better.
What you'll do:
Lead AI evolution strategy for WC, translating industry shifts, creative standards and business priorities into a clear roadmap for responsible adoption.
Serve as a senior AI thought leader and enablement lead.
Lead the AI Council, turning fast-moving AI activity into clear decisions, approved use cases, guidance and scalable ways of working.
Establish AI governance, guardrails, prompt standards, templates, examples and review criteria.
Build and optimize human-in-the-loop workflows that use AI as an accelerator across copy, design partnership, content QA, briefs, ideation, and asset scaling.
Develop, test and deploy AI tools, custom agents, prompt libraries that improve speed, quality and consistency.
Partner cross-functionally to align priorities and reduce duplication across orgs.
Review and elevate AI-generated work across channels, ensuring outputs meet Walmart brand voice, style, accessibility, compliance and quality standards.
Provide product/workflow feedback to internal/external AI partners, helping improve UI/UX, reliability, access and team adoption.
Own AI case studies, measurement frameworks and storytelling that make impact clear: what changed, what scaled, what risks were reduced and what to build next.
Stay ahead of AI technology, agentic workflows, retail trends and regulatory/compliance considerations to bring forward recommendations that keep WC moving quickly and responsibly.
What you'll bring:
Proven experience leading AI strategy, human-in-the-loop adoption, governance, enablement.
Experience with AI-powered tools for content creation, automation, workflow design, QA, creative operations.
Familiarity with LLMs and AI tools and relevant creative/marketing solutions.
Strong prompt engineering, systems thinking and ability to translate complex technical capabilities into tools, templates and training.
Strong creative judgment, brand voice fluency and ability to raise the quality of AI-generated outputs while protecting craft, compliance, accessibility and customer trust.
Excellent cross-functional leadership, executive presence, emotional intelligence and relationship-building skills.
Proactive, organized, comfortable with ambiguity, flexible in the face of shifting business needs and passionate about AI, writing, and brand voice.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00 Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include :
