Job Title: Industrial Engineer
Job Description
This Industrial Engineer role supports high-volume manufacturing and production line activities by coordinating with suppliers, preparing lines for sign-off, and leading continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, quality, and cycle time reduction. You will work on-site on automotive assembly lines, using your expertise in line balancing and time studies to support smooth ramp-up, stable operation, and ongoing performance improvement.
Responsibilities
Monitor, track, and follow up on open action items with production line suppliers until all issues are fully resolved.
Execute pre-sign-off activities in accordance with established templates, internal procedures, and technical requirements.
Analyze production processes to identify opportunities to reduce cycle time and improve overall line efficiency.
Apply line balancing principles to optimize workload distribution across workstations on automotive assembly lines.
Support two separate assembly lines, ensuring each line has appropriate industrial engineering coverage and support.
Conduct detailed time studies to measure work content, validate standards, and identify bottlenecks.
Collaborate closely with operators, manufacturing engineers, quality teams, and suppliers to support smooth line ramp-up and stable operation.
Support line readiness activities through data analysis, documentation, and process validation.
Prepare and maintain clear documentation of process changes, findings, and recommendations for continuous improvement.
Communicate status, risks, and improvement opportunities clearly to cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers.
Drive and support implementation of process improvements, ensuring changes are validated and sustained.
Essential Skills
Strong understanding of line balancing principles and manufacturing workflows.
Hands-on experience with assembly processes and production line operations, preferably in an automotive environment.
Proven experience in line balancing within the automotive industry.
Proven experience performing detailed time studies on production or assembly lines.
Experience working with suppliers and managing technical follow-ups and action items.
Ability to analyze production data, identify improvement opportunities, and support implementation of process changes.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple action items, lines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
Effective written and verbal communication skills to coordinate across teams and suppliers.
Ability to collaborate effectively with operators and other engineers on the shop floor.
Ability to work on-site on assembly lines for the duration of a 6-9 month contract.
Proficiency in both Chinese and English for effective communication with diverse teams and suppliers.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Industrial engineering with experience in high-volume manufacturing environments.
Experience in automotive assembly line operations and precision component manufacturing.
Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies focused on efficiency, quality, and cycle time reduction.

This is a Contract position based out of Duncan, SC.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr.
