JOB SUMMARY
The University of Connecticut School of Social Work is seeking applicants for a full-time, end-dated position as an Admissions Officer 1. This position supports recruitment, outreach, and admissions operations for the School of Social Work, with a primary focus on the Master of Social Work (MSW) program and additional support for the BSW and PhD programs. This role plays a key part in engaging prospective students, guiding applicants through the admissions process, and contributing to enrollment and yield goals.
The position assists in implementing recruitment and outreach strategies, manages applicant communications across the admissions lifecycle, and helps ensure a positive, responsive and informative experience for prospective and admitted students. The role also supports data tracking, reporting, and process improvement to advance the School's enrollment objectives and works collaboratively with admissions staff, faculty, and campus partners. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to social justice, access, and equity aligned with the mission of the School of Social Work.
Works under the supervision of the Director of Recruitment and Admissions.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Advise prospective undergraduate and graduate students on the admissions and enrollment process.
Communicate with applicants and prospects via email, phone, virtual platforms, and CRM systems.
Provide accurate and timely information on admissions requirements, deadlines, and program offerings.
Represent the School of Social Work at recruitment events, including college fairs, information sessions, and community outreach programs.
Assist in planning, coordinating, and facilitating recruitment and admitted-student events (virtual and in-person).
Support application processing and review workflows in accordance with established procedures.
Maintain and update applicant data and records in the admissions CRM system.
Generate and assist with reports related to recruitment, applications, and enrollment trends.
Deliver presentations to prospective students and partners on academic programs and admissions processes.
Participate in in-state travel to support recruitment initiatives.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support recruitment strategies and student engagement.
Serve on School, campus, or University committees as needed.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in a related field and at least two years of professional experience in higher education or a related field.
Experience with Microsoft Office or similar software applications.
Demonstrated ability to provide high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Demonstrated organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Experience working with databases or customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
Experience supporting event planning and coordination.
Demonstrated ability to deliver presentations to prospective students, families, or community partners.
Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master of Social Work (MSW) or related graduate degree.
Experience with Slate.
Experience in graduate admissions, recruitment, or enrollment management.
Demonstrated advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel or a similar data reporting tool.
Experience in counseling, advising or coaching.
APPOINTMENT TERMS
This is a full-time, end-dated position with the possibility of renewal subject to performance and funding. The salary range for this position is $58,000 to $65,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience.
