For more information about E-Verify, please visit the E-Verify website found here,https://www.e-verify.gov/ This position assists the Regional Access Manager with the management and implementation of lands enrolled in Department hunting access programs, including coordinating hunter use on FWP-managed private lands. The position also assists private landowners and Department enforcement and wildlife personnel with recreational use compliance issues and functions as a member of the regional access team. This is a seasonal position. Employment for Hunting Access Technician field positions in region 1 typically begins in early August and continues through early January. Weekend and holiday work is required. The typical schedule is Friday through Monday, consisting of four 10-hour workdays. This position requires frequent travel and field work, often in remote terrain. Overnight travel may be required and may include lodging at FWP facilities. Working conditions include outdoor work in all seasons and under unpredictable or inclement weather. The incumbent should be in good physical condition and possess the outdoor skills necessary to safely perform field duties. Lifting 30 - 50 pounds is commonly required. Field locations are throughout region 1. Region 1 in Northwest Montana consists of small communities, rural timbered landscapes and densely populated urban areas. Terrain, elevation, and wildlife habitat vary greatly across the region. From the duty station in Kalispell, the incumbent will be assigned to an area within region 1. Shared employee housing is available in Kalispell and Noxon for individual employees only. Job Duties: The incumbent must communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with a wide variety of people and personalities. Knowledge of Montana's hunting heritage, hunting principles, hunting regulations, and basic timber and agricultural land management practices is beneficial. The successful applicant should be able to build and maintain positive working relationships with private landowners, hunters, partner agencies, and Department staff. The incumbent must be able to learn Department programs and explain them clearly and effectively to the public. This position requires the ability to work independently in remote locations with minimal supervision. The incumbent must demonstrate good judgment, maintain situational awareness, prioritize personal and public safety, and maintain a positive, professional attitude. Assist with the implementation of regional hunting access programs by working with landowners and Department staff to support public hunting opportunities and address recreational use compliance. With guidance from the Regional Access Manager, help adapt area rules and procedures to changing hunting conditions throughout the season. Assist with establishing and maintaining public hunting access sites by posting signs, locating and marking boundaries and access points, setting up parking areas, and maintaining information or permission stations. Collect, maintain, and summarize hunting access use data, including documenting daily and seasonal hunter activity. Assist with preparing program materials and reports. Serve as a resource for landowners and hunters by answering questions, providing information, and helping resolve conflicts involving recreational use. Some duty stations manage specialized hunter permission systems. In these locations, the incumbent will issue permissions, maintain records, and provide information about access opportunities, Department regulations, and applicable state and local land management agency rules. Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience): The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained through combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or equivalency. Other combinations of education and experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
