A total of one (1), 0.6 FTE Advanced Practice Professional (either NP or PA) will be hired to fill this job opening.

Responsibilities*
Provide inpatient and consultative care to pediatric patients requiring Pediatric Hematology consultation throughout C.S. Mott Children?s Hospital under supervision of the service attending physician and as a member of the care team.
Provide care to pediatric and young adult patients within Pediatric Hematology (primarily focused on coagulation disorders) in the outpatient and infusion center settings, as well through inpatient consultation.
Direct patient care and management would include performing and documenting physical exams and histories, review of laboratory and radiographic tests results, and development of treatment plans both independently and in coordination with other pediatric hematology team members.
Coordinates discharges and follow-up care of pediatric hematology patients.
Develop and coordinate surgical plans for patients with bleeding and clotting disorders under the supervision of coagulation clinic attending physicians.
Assist in triage and coordination of new patient referrals.
Develop and coordinate treatment plans for patients on high-risk medications including review and assessment of laboratory assays and dosage adjustments.
Provide patient family education, counseling and support, collaborate with and facilitate referrals to other health care providers. Serve as a resource for the health care team members.
Prescribe according to standard of care patient management and investigational clinical trial protocols.
Perform invasive and noninvasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated for patient care and clinical research.
Support clinical research mission of the PHO programs, including care of patients on clinical trials.
Contribute to the development, modification and interpretation of pediatric hematology guidelines, policies, and procedures, including quality improvement activities.
Engage in professional development; attend continuing education/staff development programs to maintain knowledge of current literature.
Required Qualifications*
Nurse Practitioner
Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner specialty certification in the State of Michigan.
Current specialty certification to practice as a Pediatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, or Family Nurse Practitioner
Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
Certification as a Nurse Practitioner recognized by the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).
Current DEA registration required or ability to obtain
AHA approved BLS certification
Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in pediatrics
Physician Assistant
Satisfactory completion of a Physician Assistant program accredited by Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor agencies, CAHEA or CAAHEP.
Certification by the National Commission on Certification for Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
Current license to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Michigan.
State of Michigan Controlled Substance License Required
Current DEA registration required
AHA approved BLS
Two (2) or more years of clinical experience in pediatrics

Work Schedule

Union Affiliation
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Physician Assistants of Michigan Medicine (UPAMM), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.
