Job Description:
We are seeking a Licensed Architect / Design Project Manager to lead the design and planning efforts for capital improvement projects supporting K-12 educational facilities. This individual will oversee the design process from early planning through construction documentation, working closely with architects, engineers, consultants, and internal stakeholders to ensure projects meet quality, budget, and regulatory standards.
Work Environment:
Based out of a central administrative office in Thornton, CO, with regular travel to project sites throughout the district
Hybrid schedule available after onboarding (approximately 2 remote days per week, depending on project and meeting requirements)
Fast-paced, project-driven environment supporting multiple concurrent capital improvement and renovation projects
Approximately 50-60% of time spent in meetings, site visits, and design collaboration sessions
Standard 40-hour work week with flexibility up to approximately 45 hours during critical project phases
Collaborative team culture with a mix of office, field, and stakeholder-facing responsibilities

Responsibilities:
Manage all phases of design for multiple facility projects, including Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), Construction Documents (CD), and Construction Administration (CA)
Lead and coordinate architects, engineers, consultants, and external design teams
Facilitate design meetings, project reviews, site walks, and stakeholder presentations
Review architectural, civil, structural, site, and MEP drawings, specifications, and project documentation
Provide technical guidance and design oversight to ensure quality and consistency across projects
Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, district standards, and project budgets
Support master planning initiatives, capital planning efforts, and bond-funded construction programs
Manage and mentor planners, technical staff, and other project team members
Coordinate project schedules, design deliverables, and stakeholder expectations across multiple active projects
Qualifications:Required:
Registered Architect (RA) license
Experience with K-12 educational facility projects
5+ years of experience managing design projects from planning through construction documentation
2+ years of leadership, supervisory, or team management experience
Strong ability to review drawings, specifications, and technical documentation
Experience working directly with architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams
Solid understanding of building systems (MEP), building codes, ADA requirements, and design standards
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
Preferred:
Experience working on public sector or bond-funded capital projects
Experience supporting master planning or capital improvement programs
Strong understanding of public procurement processes and stakeholder engagement
Previous experience overseeing multiple concurrent projects within a large facilities portfolio

The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $124000.00/yr.
