The Operations Manager leads and grows electrical construction operations, overseeing project execution from preconstruction through closeout while driving operational performance and business development. This role balances field leadership, financial oversight, team development, and client-facing responsibilities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards. The Operations Manager builds strong relationships across the industry, supports estimating and preconstruction efforts, and plays a key role in long-term company growth in commercial, industrial, and institutional electrical construction.
Responsibilities
Oversee day-to-day operations for multiple electrical construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Lead project teams to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in alignment with company quality standards.
Monitor project performance, including manpower planning, material procurement, and resource allocation across jobs.
Partner with project managers, superintendents, and field leadership to resolve issues quickly and keep projects moving forward.
Establish, refine, and improve internal processes to create consistency, accountability, and efficiency across operations.
Review project schedules, labor productivity, cost reports, and operational metrics to identify risks and opportunities.
Maintain visibility into project budgets, job costs, forecasts, change orders, billing, and overall financial performance.
Support project teams in managing contract scope, subcontractors, vendors, and client expectations.
Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to ensure smooth turnover of awarded work into operations.
Drive accountability around project profitability, execution quality, and customer satisfaction.
Build and maintain strong relationships with general contractors, owners, developers, engineers, and other key industry contacts.
Identify new project opportunities and support efforts to expand relationships with existing clients.
Partner with leadership and estimating teams on strategic pursuits, proposals, interviews, and positioning efforts.
Support market growth by helping develop sales strategies, prospecting plans, and client engagement initiatives.
Represent the organization in meetings, networking events, industry associations, and client presentations.
Lead, mentor, and develop project managers, superintendents, and operations staff to strengthen overall team capability.
Foster a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement across operations and field teams.
Support recruiting, onboarding, and retention efforts for operational and field talent.
Align field and office teams to improve communication, execution, and client service.
Ensure all work is performed in accordance with company standards, contract documents, and applicable codes and regulations.
Promote and support a strong safety culture across all projects and teams.
Maintain a consistent focus on quality control, documentation, and successful project closeout.
Contribute to winning more work by strengthening relationships and improving project execution and client experience.
Essential Skills
At least 7 years of experience in electrical construction with progressive leadership responsibility in operations, project management, or field leadership.
Strong understanding of commercial, industrial, or institutional electrical construction, including installation practices and project delivery methods.
Proven ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with budgeting, forecasting, job cost control, scheduling, and operational reporting.
Demonstrated success in business development, client relationship management, or supporting efforts to win new work.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop project and field teams.
Excellent communication skills for collaborating with operations, estimating, field leadership, and executive teams.
Effective problem-solving abilities to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement improvements across projects.
Knowledge of electrical systems and their installation in industrial and healthcare projects.
Understanding of contract management, including scope, change orders, subcontractor and vendor coordination, and client expectations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working for an electrical contractor in a multi-project operations leadership role.
Background that combines hands-on project execution with business development responsibilities.
Familiarity with design-build, negotiated work, and competitive bid environments.
Working knowledge of construction and project management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Accubid, Sage, Spectrum, Microsoft Project, or similar platforms.
Electrical license or strong trade Background in the electrical field preferred.
Experience in operations management, business development, project management, and sales within electrical construction.
Ability to build long-term, trust-based relationships with clients and industry partners.
Commitment to fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Track record of improving operational processes and scaling them as the business grows.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
