About The Division:Fiscal Management facilitates the flow of financial resources to achieve the goals of the state in support of the Comptrollers role as the states chief accountant. Work Hours:8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday. May occasionally work evenings, weekends or holidays. Hours may change based on business needs. Accountant V: $6,000.00-$6,500.00Accountant VI: $7,083.33-$7,583.33Minimum QualificationsAccountant VGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in Accounting.Four years of experience with general ledger accounting functions (not including subledgers like A/P, A/R, Payroll, etc) Experience with automated accounting system software (i.e. USAS, CAPPS, MIP, Oracle, etc.) Experience with Microsoft Office applications (primarily Excel and Word) Accountant VI:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in Accounting.Five years of general financial/accounting, financial reporting, or financial statement auditing experience.Experience with automated accounting system software (i.e. USAS, CAPPS, MIP, Oracle, etc.) Experience with Microsoft Office applications (primarily Excel and Word) Preferred QualificationsGraduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree or higher in Accounting or other related field (e.g. Finance).State AFR or ACFR experience. State governmental or higher education accounting/auditing experience. Federal/State grants, bonds, investments, and/or capital asset accounting practices. SubstitutionsOne year of experience with general ledger accounting functions (not including subledgers like A/P, A/R, Payroll, etc) may substitute for thirty semester hours of educational requirement with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years). For example, an Acct V is required to have eight (8) years of accounting experience with no accounting degree. Licenses and CertificationsPreferred Certifications: Certified Public Accountant. Summary Of Physical RequirementsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.This position requires the incumbent to primarily perform sedentary office work; however, mobility (standing and walking), talking, lifting and hearing are routinely required to carry out some duties. It requires extensive use of computer, telephone and client/customer contact. It requires the ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach as needed for filing and similar routine office duties. The job also requires normal cognitive abilities requiring the ability to learn, recall, and apply certain practices and policies. It requires the stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions. Marginal or corrected visual and auditory requirements are required to read printed materials and read computer screens and the ability to communicate with external customers. The individual must be able to lift, pull, physically handle, and transport documents, boxes, and all related information, weighing up to 20 pounds when required. In this role you will:Prepare highly complex adjusting entries, notes to the financial statements and work products related to the production of the ACFR.Provide technical and financial accounting assistance to state agencies (e.g. smaller to mid-size size agencies having mainly governmental funds with minor basis conversion entries, little or no proprietary funds or federal funds) with Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS) profiles, T-Code and Object code determination for transaction entry and error correction, and assists with running queries/reports to analyze the financial data.Assist in the update to the Annual Financial Report (AFR) reporting requirements, preparation of training materials, and in identifying improvements in the processes used
