Duties Description The Research Scientist 2 will conduct specific research projects to support data-driven decision making on current initiatives. This includes absorption analyses, predictive modeling, and forecasting analyses. The Research Scientist 2 will also develop new reports, dashboards, and analyses. The incumbent will be responsible for performing the following functions: - Responsible for conducting all phases of ongoing surveillance and research projects - Act as a database manager of various federal and state database systems - Assist the project team in designing and creating a dashboard- Develop predictive models for evaluating and forecasting the future of healthcare in New York State

Minimum Qualifications Assistant Research Scientist (Health Informatics), SG14:Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, health informatics, data analytics, epidemiology, statistics, public administration, government analytics, mathematics, social sciences, engineering or a related field and one year of professional research experience in an appropriate field.Research Scientist 1 (Health Informatics), SG18:Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, health informatics, data analytics, epidemiology, statistics, public administration, government analytics, mathematics, social sciences, engineering or a related field and two years of professional research experience in an appropriate field.Research Scientist 2 (Health Informatics), SG22:Bachelor's degree or higher in public health, health informatics, data analytics, epidemiology, statistics, public administration, government analytics, mathematics, social sciences, engineering or a related field and three years of professional research experience in an appropriate field.Substitution: 30 graduate hours leading to an advanced degree in an appropriate field may be substituted for the required experience.Substitutions: master's degree in an appropriate field may substitute for one year of experience, and Ph.D. in an appropriate field may substitute for an additional year of experience.Preferred Qualifications: A master's degree and post degree professional experience in data visualization, and statistical models and data mining tools, in the @context of analysis and visualization of large data sets.
