Job Title: Electrical Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on building, integrating, and supporting electrified freight rail cars as a key member of a collaborative Build & Integration team. You will work hands-on with electrical and mechanical systems to assemble, wire, test, and troubleshoot complex equipment, ensuring reliable performance from initial build through the entire product lifecycle.
Responsibilities
Perform hands-on electrical build tasks, including soldering, crimping, component wiring, and cable assembly based on wiring diagrams, schematics, and verbal instructions.
Assemble and integrate components into complete systems, including pneumatics, hydraulics, drivetrains, high- and low-voltage power systems, cooling circuits, sensors, and control components.
Operate, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical equipment to ensure systems perform reliably and meet operational requirements.
Support system assembly, integration, testing, and troubleshooting as part of a multi-disciplinary Build & Integration team.
Diagnose and resolve issues on fielded systems, providing comprehensive support throughout the entire product lifecycle.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively to complete electrical and mechanical assembly tasks.
Interpret and follow wiring diagrams, blueprints, and schematics to ensure accurate installation and integration of components.
Apply knowledge of rail, electric vehicle systems, ISO 9001 standards, and NEC guidelines while performing electrical work, as applicable.
Collaborate closely with team members to adapt to evolving build designs and operational changes introduced through prioritized capability enhancements.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience with electrical systems, including installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
Experience with basic electrical systems such as starters, fuses, contacts, and relays.
Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex control systems and instrumentation.
Experience in motor control and variable frequency drives.
Proficient soldering skills for reliable electrical connections.
Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, and blueprints.
Strong electrical troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve faults efficiently.
Experience with electrical assembly and wiring of components and systems.
Comfort working with both high- and low-voltage power systems.
Ability to perform occasional heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, climbing, reaching, bending, and working in awkward positions.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work successfully within a collaborative team environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with rail or electric vehicle systems.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality standards.
Knowledge of NEC (National Electrical Code) guidelines.
Experience integrating pneumatics, hydraulics, drivetrains, cooling circuits, sensors, and control components.
Proficiency with hand tools and power tools used in electrical and mechanical assembly.
Ability to adapt to evolving build designs and changing operational requirements.
Strong problem-solving mindset with attention to detail and safety.

Work Environment
You will work as part of dynamic teams of approximately 3 to 10 members across a variety of projects, collaborating closely in a highly interactive and supportive environment. The role follows a consistent Monday-Friday schedule from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, providing predictable working hours. The work involves hands-on tasks with electrical and mechanical systems, using hand tools and power tools in a shop or industrial setting. You will build strong communication skills as you coordinate with teammates and adapt to evolving build designs and operational changes introduced through prioritized capability enhancements. The position may require physical activity such as lifting, pulling, pushing, stooping, climbing, reaching, bending, and working in awkward positions as part of daily tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $35.00/hr.
