Role Summary
The Accounting Operations Program Manager is the sole subject matter expert (SME) for Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines in accounts payable and fuel accounting strategy and tools. As an individual contributor, this role defines long-term strategy for with cross-functional teams to design and implement process and system solutions that optimize and automate vendor payments. This position requires strong judgment and initiative to solve problems.
Key Duties
Leads process improvements and technology enhancements to support new AAG initiatives, fraud prevention, and timely, accurate payments, while gaining support from key leaders.
Collaborates with cross-divisional teams to create and implement strategies that solve business problems, and deliver efficient, compliant solutions to internal and external customers.
Acts as the accounting operations SME and coordinates with Information technology systems (ITS), supply chain, financial systems, treasury, and product teams to manage vendor relationships, and improve communication and collaboration to ensure performance standards and expectations are met.
Makes decisions as an expert on accounting processes, applying knowledge of best practices, product developments, and emerging technologies to ensure operational efficiency and compliance.
Evaluates and recommends system enhancements and new technologies, ensuring they align with evolving business requirements and improve overall performance.
Designs and tests systems and tools, ensuring they meet business requirements through thorough unit, integration, and acceptance testing.
Develops and recommend changes to internal controls and processes to mitigate risks, support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, and enhance productivity.
Uses data-driven insights to analyze reports and key performance indicators (KPIs), making informed decisions that ensure accurate data, timely reporting, and compliance with internal controls and cost goals.
Documents and updates standard operating procedures and training documents.
Promotes a culture of engagement by building trust and authentic relationships, holding oneself and others accountable.
Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Required
7 years of experience in Accounts Payable or Procure to Pay.
Bachelor's degree with a focus in business administration, accounting, or a related discipline, or an additional two years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
Proven track record of developing and executing plans, consistently meeting deadlines, and managing high-pressure situations with tight timelines.
Innovative and resilient with a creative, solutions-focused mindset, able to manage multiple priorities and excel in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Demonstrated ability to influence and communicate effectively across divisions, including with company leadership.
Skilled in working collaboratively with individuals at all levels of the organization and with vendor partners.
Strong organizational and analytical skills, with keen attention to detail, and expertise in workload prioritization and time management.
Demonstrated knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), and accounts payable processes.
Demonstrates and maintains advanced knowledge of company policies.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum age of 18.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
End to end Procure to Pay experience.
Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
Banking integration project experience.
Project management experience.
Tableau, Power BI, or experience creating reports / KPIs.

Salary Range
$122,800 - $184,200 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon employees. Alaska/Hawaiian/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
Note: We don't typically hire at the top of the range.
