Job Title: Industrial Electrician
Job Description
This role provides hands-on electrical support in a cold storage facility, working with industrial power systems and control equipment. You will troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems operating at 480 V, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC while supporting production and facility operations. The position suits an intermediate-level electrician who is eager to learn, expand their skills, and grow into more advanced automation and controls responsibilities.
Responsibilities
Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial electrical systems operating at 480 V, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC in a cold storage environment.
Diagnose and repair issues with drives, including troubleshooting faults and replacing drives as needed to minimize downtime.
Troubleshoot and repair switches, proximity sensors, photoeyes, and related control devices to ensure reliable operation of equipment.
Read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics to identify circuits, components, and wiring paths for installation and repair work.
Perform wiring tasks, including running and terminating conductors in accordance with electrical codes and facility standards.
Bend and install conduit to support new installations, modifications, and repairs of electrical systems.
Assist with basic Human-Machine Interface (HMI) tasks, including replacing HMI components and supporting programming changes as training is provided.
Conduct routine inspections of electrical equipment to identify potential issues and perform preventive maintenance.
Work safely with high-voltage and low-voltage systems, following established safety procedures and lockout/tagout practices.
Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize work, resolve equipment issues, and support continuous operation of the facility.
Document work performed, including repairs, replacements, and adjustments, to maintain accurate maintenance records.
Essential Skills
Hands-on experience working with 480 V, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC electrical systems in an industrial environment.
Ability to troubleshoot and replace variable frequency drives or similar drive systems.
Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing switches, proximity sensors, and photoeyes.
Ability to read and interpret electrical blueprints and schematics.
Experience with wiring, including safe handling and termination of conductors.
Skill in conduit bending and installation for industrial applications.
Basic familiarity with HMIs, with the ability to support replacement and basic operation.
Strong troubleshooting skills for industrial electrical and control systems.
Ability to work reliably on a consistent day shift schedule, including every other Saturday as required.
Solid work tenure demonstrating reliability and commitment in previous roles.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, particularly with automation or control systems.
Exposure to cold storage or refrigerated facilities.
Willingness to learn HMI programming and more advanced controls under guidance and training.
Ability to adapt to working around fish, shellfish, and other common allergens.
Strong attention to safety and adherence to established procedures.
Good communication skills to coordinate effectively with maintenance and operations teams.
Motivation to develop new technical skills and take on additional responsibilities over time.

Work Environment
This position is based in a cold storage facility, where you will regularly work in refrigerated areas and near stored food products. The environment includes exposure to fish, shellfish, and other common allergens, and you should be comfortable working around these materials. You will work with industrial electrical systems, including 480 V, 120 VAC, and 24 VDC power, drives, HMIs, sensors, and related equipment. The standard schedule is a day shift from 5:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with work every other Saturday and the option to volunteer for additional Saturdays. The role requires appropriate attire for a cold storage and industrial setting, including suitable protective clothing and safety gear as required by facility policies.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
