Job Title: Traveling Construction Laborer
Job Description
This role offers the opportunity to work as a traveling construction laborer, supporting installation projects that include minor concrete work, wood post and I-beam foundations, steel erection, and general construction tasks. You will work primarily on job sites throughout the year, traveling frequently with a crew and contributing to the construction and installation of various structures. Regular overtime and additional hours during busy periods. Travel is performed in company vehicles, with lodging and per diem provided when overnight stays are required, and one-way drive time from the shop is paid.
Responsibilities
Assist with installation work, including minor concrete projects, wood posts, I-beam foundations, steel erection, and general construction activities.
Perform general labor tasks such as site preparation, material handling, cleanup, and basic maintenance repairs as needed.
Use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively for construction, installation, assembly, and carpentry-related tasks.
Support the setup, alignment, and securing of structural components in accordance with project specifications and instructions from supervisors.
Follow detailed instructions and work closely with team members to complete daily assignments efficiently and safely.
Travel with the crew to job sites 40-50 weeks per year, typically staying on-site for up to a week at a time, and return home most weekends.
Operate or assist with the operation of construction equipment when trained and authorized, such as lifts or other jobsite machinery.
Work outdoors in varying weather conditions, maintaining productivity and safety standards in heat, cold, dust, and other environmental factors.
Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring tools, equipment, and materials are stored properly and safely.
Demonstrate reliable attendance and punctuality, arriving prepared for early morning start times and extended workdays.
Adhere to all jobsite safety protocols and regulations, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe work practices.
Drive or ride in company vehicles to and from job sites, following all traffic and safety laws when operating a vehicle.
Essential Skills
Ability to stand and walk for 8-10 hours per day during construction shifts.
Ability to sit, drive, and kneel or crawl for up to 2 hours during a 10-hour shift.
Ability to lift and carry weights ranging from 15 to 100 pounds safely and repeatedly.
Strong work ethic with consistent, reliable attendance and punctuality.
Positive attitude with a willingness and eagerness to learn new construction skills and techniques.
Ability to follow instructions accurately and work well as part of a team on active job sites.
Comfort working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, and dusty environments.
Comfort with extensive travel, including being on the road 40-50 weeks per year and staying overnight as needed.
Valid driver's license, as required for driving company vehicles or as applicable to role needs.
General labor experience or comfort performing physical, hands-on work in a construction or similar environment.
Ability to use basic hand tools and power tools safely under supervision.
Awareness of jobsite safety practices and willingness to adhere to safety protocols.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous construction experience in general construction, installation, or related fields.
Experience operating equipment such as scissor lifts, forklifts, skid steers, or backhoes.
Basic knowledge of construction tools, materials, and jobsite safety procedures.
Experience with concrete work, including forming, pouring, or finishing.
Experience with steel or wood structure installation, including assembly and erection.
Familiarity with OSHA 10 safety principles or similar safety training.
Experience in farm work or similar hands-on labor that involves tools, machinery, and outdoor conditions.
Ability to perform maintenance repairs on tools, equipment, or basic structures when needed.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
