Summary The Administrative Officer will be responsible for the administrative functions of all sections within the service to include but not limited to: Office of the Chief, Housekeeping Operations, Textile Care, Waste Management, Sanitation, Patient Transportation, and Uniform Management. Oversees the daily administrative operation of the unit, ensuring that agency policies and priorities are being followed; develops performance standards and recommends work performance of subordinates. Responsibilities Duties include: Informs EMS leadership updates on all program regulatory requirements, including JCAHO, OSHA, EPA and quality standards developed by VACO Environmental Management. This may include interpreting administrative policies, developing and implementing local policies that involve EMS, creating and defining administrative requirements, and/or providing advice to EMS Supervisors and EMS leadership on related issues; Develop process requirements for a large, complex service: creating MOU/SLA, internal SOP, creating database to track EOH compliance and Safety requirements; Works with the Chief and Assistant Chief of EMS to provide for the budgeting and financial management planning for the service. This includes budget formulation, justification, and execution; financial management; and financial reporting; Establishes, organizes and maintains a system of internal controls for the management of funds in allocated cost centers and funds associated with other programs; Perform well in a broad variety of duties, which include fiscal control, and liaison with A&MM and Fiscal Service; Identify, developing, analyzing, evaluating, and advising on the effectiveness of work methods and procedures, internal organization, staff utilization, work-flow and distribution, management controls, information and documentation management; Experience with various functions within the health care system and ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people to gather information, present recommendations, and coordinate services is critical; Meets the needs of customers while supporting the Medical Center and Service missions; Promotion Potential: The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met.
