Mechanical Assembler (2nd Shift)
Job Description
This role focuses on assembling mechanical and electro-mechanical components into complete switchboards, lighting panels, and related subassemblies in a climate-controlled production environment. You will use hand and power tools, read and interpret technical documents, and work with computer-based work orders to ensure products meet quality, safety, and customer specifications. The position operates on 2nd shift and supports high-profile projects for large-scale data center applications.
Responsibilities
Perform revolving assembly operations on electronic, electro-mechanical, and mechanical assemblies and subassemblies, including switchboards and lighting panels.
Use hand and power tools, as well as specialized mechanical trade tools, to assemble fabricated parts into unit assemblies and subassemblies.
Process work orders using computers and scanning devices in alignment with the production schedule and any expedited orders.
Scan in and out of work orders with computers and scanning devices to accurately track progress and maintain production flow.
Read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, one-line diagrams, schematics, and other documents required to complete mechanical and electrical assembly assignments.
Gather and organize all parts, components, and accessories required for each assembly process before starting work.
Fasten component parts to cubicles, frames, subassemblies, or unit assemblies according to specifications and diagrams.
Connect cables and basic wiring, including point-to-point wiring, to ensure proper electrical connections within assemblies.
Verify that units meet all specifications, tolerances, and customer order requirements, and adjust or replace parts as necessary to achieve compliance.
Mark unit assemblies with identifying information and/or attach identifying tags to ensure accurate tracking and labeling.
Report non-conforming items, such as parts, schematics, blueprints, or materials, and support corrective actions to resolve issues.
Prepare finished units for shipping by packing, sealing, labeling, and staging products according to shipping and quality requirements.
Clean and maintain tools, equipment, and the work area to ensure proper functioning, safe working conditions, and efficient operations.
Access and use various documents via computer systems, including quality and safety documents and operating instructions, to guide daily work.
Organize and maintain personal hand stock, continuously monitoring availability of parts and selecting appropriate components according to specifications.
Use specific equipment and specialized tools, ensuring they remain in good working condition and are used according to safety and operating guidelines.
Perform visual checks and basic functionality or general quality test routines and procedures to confirm product quality.
Assist in resolving routine manufacturing-related problems that affect daily operations, collaborating with others to maintain production flow.
Advocate for and follow all safety procedures, identifying hazards and taking action to maintain a safe work environment.
Cooperate with team members by willingly assisting others, sharing knowledge, and contributing to a collaborative production environment.
Perform other related duties as directed to support production, quality, and safety objectives.
Essential Skills
Experience performing mechanical assembly in a production or manufacturing environment.
Proficiency using hand and power tools and other tools and equipment common to the mechanical trade.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, bills of materials, one-line diagrams, and schematics for mechanical and electrical assemblies.
Experience with basic wiring and point-to-point wiring, including connecting cables and basic wires.
Ability to process and manage work orders using computers and scanning devices in accordance with production schedules.
Strong quality orientation with the ability to verify that units meet specifications, tolerances, and customer requirements and to identify and correct flaws.
Demonstrated safety advocacy, including promoting and maintaining a safe work environment and identifying and eliminating hazards.
Capability to organize and maintain personal hand stock and select appropriate parts and components according to specifications.
Ability to perform visual inspections and basic functionality or general quality test routines.
Willingness and ability to work indoors on assigned shifts and occasionally lift heavy materials while wearing required safety equipment.
Cooperative mindset with the ability to assist others, share knowledge, and work effectively as part of a team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with assembly line production processes for mechanical and electro-mechanical products.
Experience assembling switchboards, lighting panels, or similar electrical distribution equipment.
Comfort using computer-based systems to access quality documents, safety documents, and operating instructions.
Ability to troubleshoot and assist in resolving routine manufacturing-related problems affecting daily operations.
Attention to detail in marking, labeling, and preparing units for shipment.
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and maintain workflow in line with production schedules.

Work Environment
The role is based in a climate-controlled facility that supports production of mechanical and electro-mechanical assemblies. Work typically takes place indoors on 2nd shift, Monday through Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. Overtime is voluntary, with a sign-up sheet posted one week in advance for those interested; if additional coverage is needed, some Saturdays may become mandatory to meet production demands. Team members wear common safety equipment such as cut-resistant gloves and sleeves, safety shoes, safety glasses, and ear plugs. The environment includes exposure to loud noises and the possibility of bumps, cuts, scrapes, and strains, and employees use hand and power tools, specialized mechanical tools, computers, and scanning devices as part of their daily work.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Grand Prairie, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
