Summary The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of New York's mission is to investigate, prosecute and deter violations of federal statutes, enforce and represent the interests of the United States in civil litigation, uphold civil, constitutional and victims' rights, and foster partnerships with other federal, state and local government agencies and community groups. Responsibilities This Administrative Services Specialist provides planning, coordinating, and executing a variety of administrative services that support the efficient operation of the district. If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for providing Administrative Services Specialist support in the U.S. Attorney's Office, Eastern District of New York, located in Central Islip, New York, focusing in the areas of administrative support. Typical work assignments will include: Coordinates office operations including scheduling, correspondence control, and tracking task assignments. Analyzes, evaluates, and recommends improvements to administrative processes related to budget, travel, facilities and records management. Ensures compliance with Department of Justice and Executive Office of the United States Attorney's policies. Prepares reports and reconciles financial data. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: To be considered minimally qualified for this position, you must demonstrate that you have the required specialized experience and/or education for the respective grade level in which you are applying: To qualify at the GS-09 level, you must possess: Specialized Experience: At least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level in the Federal service performing (obtained in either the public or private sectors) (3) of the (4) duties listed below: Coordinating administrative support activities, including procurement, budget, travel, records management, or office operations; Processing administrative actions and maintaining records, reports, and related documentation; Researching and resolving administrative issues and recommending solutions; Coordinating projects or administrative activities and providing support to management and staff. OR A master's degree or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree, OR LL.B. or J.D., if related. OR A combination of qualifying specialized experience and graduate education that equals 100 percent of the qualification requirement. Only graduate education beyond the GS-07 level may be used. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-07 is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level.
