Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Clerk
Job Description
This role supports a high-volume manufacturing and warehouse operation by handling domestic and international shipping, receiving incoming materials, and maintaining accurate inventory. You will work primarily on second shift, with initial training on first shift, and play a key role in ensuring products and materials move efficiently through the facility. The position requires strong computer competency, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate closely with a tight-knit shipping team and other departments.
Responsibilities
Receive incoming goods, verify accuracy against documentation, and stock materials in the warehouse in an organized and timely manner.
Replenish the lean assembly line with required parts and materials, including maintaining and restocking carts to support continuous production flow.
Perform picking, product verification, packaging, and shipping of domestic and international orders according to established procedures.
Follow contracted shipping lanes for outbound shipments, request spot quotes when established lanes do not exist, and accurately enter tracking information into the system.
Monitor and trace shipments when required, ensuring customers and internal stakeholders receive timely updates on delivery status.
Schedule pickups with freight forwarders and common carriers, coordinate pickup times, and follow up as needed to resolve issues or delays.
Support recycling activities for manufacturing, warehouse, and receiving/shipping areas, ensuring materials are sorted and handled according to site processes.
Conduct regular cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory records and support inventory control initiatives.
Identify and scrap obsolete materials in accordance with company guidelines, documenting and handling materials appropriately.
Maintain accurate and clear labeling of parts, pallets, and beams to support efficient material identification and retrieval.
Keep all work areas clean, organized, and compliant with 5S standards, including regular housekeeping and organization tasks.
Serve as a backup and provide assistance for other shipping and receiving functions as needed to support team workload and coverage.
Execute all duties in a safe manner, following site safety protocols and reporting any hazards or incidents promptly.
Collaborate closely with the shipping team, manufacturing, quality, management, and sales to coordinate shipments, resolve issues, and support customer requirements.
Use shipping software and computer systems to process shipments, generate documentation, and maintain accurate records.
Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks to move materials safely within the warehouse and shipping areas.
Perform additional tasks within the shipping team as assigned to support operational needs and continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
Demonstrated experience in shipping and receiving operations in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience with international shipping processes, including documentation and carrier coordination.
Strong computer competency, including the ability to learn and use shipping software and related systems.
Experience using shipping systems and tools for carriers such as UPS and FedEx.
Ability to work effectively on second shift (approximately 2:30 pm-11:00 pm, Monday through Friday) and train initially on first shift (approximately 6:00 am-2:30 pm).
Proficiency in using pallet jacks and other basic material handling equipment in a safe manner.
Strong sense of urgency with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills to coordinate with internal teams and external carriers.
Capability to maintain clean, organized work areas and follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles.
Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks and support different functions within the shipping and receiving team.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience working in a lean manufacturing, kanban, or production cell environment.
Familiarity with ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protocols and handling of sensitive components.
Experience working in a stockroom environment, including inventory control and cycle counting.
Comfort working within a close-knit team and adapting to different working styles and personalities.
Ability to support both domestic and international customers through accurate documentation and timely shipment processing.

Work Environment
The role is based in a lean manufacturing and warehouse environment that uses kanban and production cell concepts to support efficient material flow. Work areas follow 5S principles, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and standardization. The facility operates multiple shifts, with this position primarily on second shift (approximately 2:30 pm-11:00 pm, Monday through Friday) and initial training on first shift (approximately 6:00 am-2:30 pm). You will work with shipping software, UPS and FedEx systems, and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks. ESD protocols are in place, particularly for handling sensitive components, and you are expected to follow all safety and handling procedures. The shipping team functions as a close, supportive group, so a flexible and cooperative working style is important to fit well within the team and adapt to changing operational needs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $27.00/hr.
