Responsibilities for the Technical Author and Product Marketing Specialist includes but not limited to:
Research and collaborate with a cross functional team (product management, engineering, testing and validation, marketing, support, and related groups) to create and work on a variety of documents while meeting high quality standards. The documents can be anything from various @types of guides, knowledge-base articles (KBAs), frequently asked questions (FAQs), etc.
Gain deep understanding of products and services, and translate complex information into simple, polished, engaging content which sets the product user up for success.
Be proactive in communicating statuses and issues and drive the process of getting the documents reviewed and approved by a global team.
Professionally and consistently self-edit own work and assist in editing the work of other team members when necessary.
Meet requirements for speed, deadlines, and methodology.
Maintain focus on delivering documentation in the most efficient and productive way.
Assist with UI design to enable in-product marketing and feature discoverability.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field.
Minimum of 5-10 years' experience in building and improving commercial, enterprise-class online and print-styled software documentation for the full range of end users.
Exceptional communication skills - both verbal and written.
Proven ability with English spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax and composition rules, and a clear business/technical writing style.
Strong editing skills.
Demonstrable ability to quickly grasp and document technical, abstract, or advanced concepts clearly to any audience level required by any of our products.
Detail-oriented, diligent, and with the ability to multi-task and follow through on multiple documentation projects.
Demonstrable excellence in technical writing. Candidates might be asked to take a writing test.
Strong experience with solving communication problems for conceptually complex enterprise products, especially those including subjects such as IT systems security, system software, management systems, databases, and client-server architectures. Direct experience with security products is highly desirable. The ideal candidate will have the following:
Experience working with modern technical writing tools and methodologies.
Experience working with lightweight markup languages.
Experience working with distributed version control systems such as Git.
Experience working with Visio or Figma to produce infographics and diagrams. A great Technical Author will also have the following:
Working knowledge of cloud-native architectures and / or exposure to security systems.
Comfortable with modern technical writing tools and methodologies.
Software company experience.
Experience creating written documentation for customer-facing developers.
Project Manager Technical Product Marketing - Up to 1/3 of the time.
Content Publishing & Web Operations.
Create, update, and manage web postings by accurately completing required publishing forms and templates.
Ensure all content meets brand, formatting, and compliance standards before publication.
Maintain consistency across web pages and content repositories.
Write engaging short copy for postings.
Support SharePoint Postings and help maintain and update content, manage document structure, and ensure easy navigation for users.
Partner with stakeholders to keep content current, relevant, and accessible.
Template & Layout Management (these are often in Word or PowerPoint).
Apply and update standardized templates for consistency across content.
Ensure layouts are visually appealing and user-friendly.
Identify opportunities to improve templates for efficiency and better user experience Analytics & Reporting:
Track digital assets and locations.
Track performance of digital assets (web postings, SharePoint content, portals).
Gather and analyze data to identify trends, engagement insights, and optimization opportunities.
Deliver regular reports with actionable recommendations to improve content effectiveness.
Adobe creative experience.
