We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Agronomist to join our company and support our Jackson Minnesota location.
As a Production Agronomist, you will focus on effective and efficient management of seed field production processes. This role capitalizes on your agronomic knowledge and ability to get in the field to collaborate with team members and achieve highest quality crops and yields. You'll further develop your leadership and people management skills by managing work processes, balancing workloads, training, and motivating employees. You'll utilize your problem-solving skills while fostering innovation, risk taking, and creativity.

What You'll Do:
Oversee acreage planning, strategy, logistics, education and resource allocation for field activities, including all aspects of grower relations: contracts, conflict resolution, field information, etc.
Coach contracted seed growers on agronomic improvement opportunities to enhance yields and seed quality
Keep abreast of current agronomic practices, government agricultural programs, and environmental issues related to all phases of seed production
Work with government certifying agencies to ensure all standards are met
Participate in strategic planning, budgetary, safety, quality, and workforce issues for employees
Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners
Serve as a technical expert across a broad range of activities: nutrient and herbicide recommendations, integrated pest management, field inspections/pollination, harvest process, etc.
Meeting targeted yields, accurate data collection and entry, and other planning parameters as directed by the company
Establish and support individual and team performance goals that are attainable and aligned with business strategy
Sponsor projects, team members, timelines, and deliverables to ensure productivity objectives are met
Promote safety, health, and environmentally sound practices through managing assigned programs
Evaluate and analyze the local competitive seed environment
Other responsibilities as assigned

Train and manage a team of field inspectors
Oversee a plant safety program
Work closely with local sales teams
Education:
Bachelor's degree in agronomy, agribusiness, or related discipline
What Skills You Need:
Has at least one year of experience in agronomy, field science, agribusiness, or another related field
Possess general seed production knowledge and are experienced with sound agricultural practices
Demonstrates good organization, prioritization, and time-management skills
Thrives in a fast-paced environment and are able to quickly adapt to change
Shows experience in leading, developing, and sustaining high-functioning engaged work teams
Proven proficiency in computer systems and programs (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and tends to pick up quickly on new software
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Values safety and always follows safety rules and procedures
Understands the time sensitivity of working with a biological product and are willing/able to work longer hours when needed during peak agronomic seasons
Holds a valid US driver's license in good standing
Ability and willingness to achieve additional certifications and training specific to the hiring location
Physical Job Requirements:
Stand and sit for extended periods
Work both outdoors and indoors in hot, cold, wet, and dry conditions
Lift up to 60 lbs.
Perform work that involves repetitive motion and/or repetitive lifting
Exposure to dust and plant allergens including but not limited to corn, sunflower, cotton, and canola pollen and protein and sorghum as well as potential mold spores and/or chemicals in the course of your duties

The salary range for this position is $74,530.00 to $93,160.00.
This reflects a reasonable estimate of the targeted base salary for this role. This role is also eligible for an annual bonus. Based on factors such as geographic location and candidate qualifications, actual base pay is determined when an employment offer is made.
