Location: Sumner, WA
Schedule: Monday-Thursday, 3:30 PM - 2:00 AM
(Overtime may be available on Fridays)
Pay: $24.25/hour base + 10% shift differential = $26.68/hour

Overview
We are an established aerospace manufacturing company seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Painter to join our Sumner, WA production team. This position is critical in ensuring components meet strict aerospace quality and safety standards through precise coating and material preparation processes.
Position Summary
The Painter applies protective coatings such as primers, paint, enamel, and polyurethane to manufactured parts and work areas in accordance with standard work instructions and engineering specifications. This role also involves precise measurement and handling of coating materials to meet aerospace accuracy and compliance requirements.
Primary Responsibilities
Mix coating materials according to job travelers, specifications, and engineering drawings
Accurately weigh and measure materials prior to application
Load paint cups/liners with appropriate coating materials
Prepare and select parts for painting
Operate spray equipment to apply coatings to parts and test coupons
Inspect finished components to ensure compliance with all specifications
Follow all quality, production, and safety procedures
Material Weighing & Precision Requirements
This role requires precise measurement of coatings and materials using industrial weighing equipment. Typical practices include:
Use of bench or platform industrial scales designed for high-accuracy environments
Working with high-resolution measurements (0.1 g or better) to detect small variations
Ensuring equipment and processes meet calibration traceability standards required in aerospace manufacturing
Utilizing check-weighing techniques to verify materials meet required tolerances before use
Operating in a rugged, dust-resistant production environment while maintaining measurement accuracy
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Experience applying primers, adhesives, and topcoats using HVLP spray equipment
Understanding of proper mixing techniques and ratios
Familiarity with precision measuring or weighing materials in a manufacturing setting
Ability to read and interpret written instructions and specifications
Experience working in a fast-paced production or batch manufacturing environment
Experience Requirements
3-6 months of painting experience and/or relevant training
Education / Certifications
Technical school certification preferred but not required
Work Environment
This position operates in a manufacturing environment and may include:
Indoor work that is not always temperature-controlled
Exposure to noise, machinery, and industrial chemicals
Shared workspaces with other employees
Physical requirements such as lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing, pulling, and bending
Standing and/or walking for 8-12+ hours per shift
Safety & PPE Requirements
Required PPE is provided based on position and exposure. Employees must wear appropriate PPE at all times on the production floor, including:
Ear plugs or earmuffs
Full face shield
Safety glasses or goggles
Gloves (latex, rubber, chemical-resistant, general duty)
Protective apron
Respirator

2nd shift position with shift differential included in total pay
