Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Manager to support the delivery of a large-scale data center construction project. This individual will be responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, financial management, and successful delivery of all electrical scopes from preconstruction through commissioning and final turnover.
The Electrical Project Manager will serve as the primary management liaison for electrical subcontractors, equipment vendors, commissioning teams, utility providers, and project stakeholders while ensuring safety, schedule, budget, quality, and client objectives are achieved.
This is a highly technical role requiring experience managing the electrical infrastructure of large mission-critical facilities. Candidates must have prior experience supporting at least one $200M+ data center construction project and possess a strong understanding of electrical systems, project controls, cost management, commissioning, procurement, and subcontractor management.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Execution
Lead the day-to-day management of all electrical construction activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Maintain detailed ownership and understanding of all electrical scope, risks, deliverables, and project milestones.
Partner closely with project executives, superintendents, project engineers, commissioning teams, and client stakeholders to drive successful project outcomes.
Mentor and develop project engineers and project support staff while fostering a collaborative project environment.
Ensure successful project execution while maintaining schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
Electrical Subcontractor Management
Serve as the primary point of contact for all electrical subcontractors and vendors.
Manage subcontractor performance, scheduling, productivity, manpower, and execution against project commitments.
Lead coordination efforts between electrical contractors, mechanical contractors, controls vendors, utility providers, and equipment manufacturers.
Review and approve subcontractor schedules, procurement plans, manpower forecasts, and progress updates.
Resolve field and coordination issues impacting electrical installation activities.
Hold subcontractors accountable for safety, quality, commissioning, and turnover requirements.
Cost Management & Project Controls
Manage electrical budgets, forecasts, change management processes, and cost controls throughout the project lifecycle.
Review subcontractor pay applications, change orders, purchase orders, and contract modifications.
Track project financial performance and identify opportunities to mitigate cost risk.
Partner with project controls and scheduling teams to monitor productivity, earned value, and budget performance.
Support billing, forecasting, collections, and financial reporting efforts.
Scheduling & Procurement
Collaborate with scheduling teams to develop and maintain detailed project schedules using Primavera P6.
Monitor critical path activities and proactively identify schedule risks and recovery opportunities.
Coordinate procurement and delivery of long-lead electrical equipment.
Ensure major equipment deliveries align with construction sequencing and commissioning requirements.
Support phased turnover, energization planning, and client occupancy milestones.
Electrical Systems Oversight
Oversee the installation, startup, commissioning, and turnover of complex mission-critical electrical systems, including:
Medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution systems
Utility service infrastructure
Switchgear and switchboards
Transformers
UPS systems
Battery energy storage systems
Standby generators
Automatic transfer switches (ATS)
Power distribution units (PDUs)
Busway systems
Grounding and bonding systems
Electrical monitoring systems (EMS)
Lighting and emergency power systems
Building automation and controls interfaces
Risk Management & Problem Resolution
Identify and mitigate project risks related to design, procurement, schedule, labor availability, commissioning, and equipment delivery.
Resolve complex technical, financial, and operational issues affecting project execution.
Support constructability reviews and value engineering initiatives.
Escalate critical concerns and develop corrective action plans when necessary.
Maintain strong communication with project stakeholders regarding project status, schedule impacts, and risk exposures.
Commissioning & Turnover
Lead coordination of electrical startup, testing, integrated systems testing (IST), and commissioning activities.
Partner with commissioning providers, vendors, owners, and operations teams to ensure successful turnover.
Track and resolve commissioning deficiencies and punch list items.
Manage turnover documentation and closeout requirements.
Ensure systems achieve operational readiness and meet client reliability and uptime requirements.

Skills and Requirements
8-15 years of commercial construction project management experience.
Direct experience managing electrical scopes on at least one $200M+ data center construction project.
Experience supporting hyperscale, colocation, enterprise, or mission-critical facilities.
Strong electrical construction background with proven success managing electrical subcontractors.
Demonstrated experience with:
Electrical distribution systems
Backup power infrastructure
Mission-critical environments
Commissioning and startup activities
Cost management and forecasting
Schedule management
Contract administration
Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement activities, and turnover documentation.
Strong understanding of construction sequencing and critical path scheduling.
Proficiency with:
Microsoft Office Suite
Construction management software
Cost management platforms
Primavera P6
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Experience supporting hyperscale data center clients.
Experience on projects exceeding $500M in construction value.
Knowledge of integrated systems testing (IST), levelized commissioning, and mission-critical turnover processes.
OSHA 30 Certification.
Experience with fast-track or phased turnover projects.
Electrical engineering background or electrical trade experience.
