We are a calf starting/ backgrounding operation that runs approximately
4,000 moderate to high- risk calves on grass traps and dormant winter
pasture. The main responsibility of the Nutrition Technician will be :
70% operating feeding equipment and monitoring calf and performance
health on the feedline and reporting cases of ailment to their direct
supervisor. 10% Assist the processing crew with processing calves. 10%
Routine maintenance on equipment and minor mechanical repairs. 10%
fencing upkeep and repairs. Individual will be expected to attend and
participate in weekly planning meetings and daily briefings. The
equipment they will operate is modest, early (1990s and newer) model
tractors, feed processors and feed pickups. This individual will also be
expected to use software technology to enter fed feed amounts from the
tractor/ pickup. other duties may include but are not limited to;
maintaining a stored feed inventory, putting out loose mineral and
rotating cattle between pastures. Job duties may include and are not
limited to tasks such as: attach/detach implements; be able to handle
working in high humidity; clean work areas; load and unload materials
and commodities; repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and
mechanical equipment; repair farm buildings, fences, and other
structures; tend to livestock by feeding, medicating, general care,
grading, sorting, working, placing identification on, or relocating; use
hand tools such as wrenches, crow bars, air tools, electric tools; work
in extreme temperatures. Equipment such as but not limited to the
following will be used/operated by the workers in conjunction with the
duties being performed: bins, silos, loading and unloading facilities,
tractors. The workers will be performing the duties to help produce:
cattle. Must speak and understand English.
Housing will be provided at no charge to the qualified workers. The
employer will provide, at no cost to the worker: food; potable water;
propane; cooking supplies/utensils and will visit remote site every 3
days.
Living & laundry facilities available. Housing will be clean and in
compliance with OSHA Housing Standards at 29 CFR 1910.142 when occupied.
Workers will be responsible for maintaining housing in a neat, clean
manner. Housing and utilities are provided at no cost to workers who are
unable to return to their place of residence the same day. Workers
eligible for and offered employer-provided housing may choose not to
occupy the employer provided housing. Workers eligible for employer
provided housing may elect to obtain their own housing at workers
expense. Workers eligible for employer-provided housing who elect to
decline the employer provided housing and instead obtain their own
housing may withdraw such election at any time during the period of
employment, and upon doing so will be provided housing by the employer
as set forth in the Clearance Order or as amended and approved by DOL.
The Company assumes no responsibility whatsoever for housing arranged by
workers on their own. The employer will not provide a housing allowance
or assistance to workers eligible for employer-provided housing who
elect to obtain their own housing. Worker cannot change assigned housing
or move between the housing listed on the job order without the consent
of the employer. No worker may allow for overnight guests in the housing
without the prior consent of the employer, and housing provided is for
the worker only unless family housing is required by law or agreed upon
by the employer.
