Job summary:
As a Senior Commercial Real Estate Loan Closer in the Documentation and Closing group, you manage a mixed pipeline supporting Community Development Banking and New Markets Tax Credit loan closings. You partner with internal teams and external counsel to review due diligence, identify and resolve risks, and drive documentation and funding readiness. You help ensure loan documents, booking packages, and settlements are accurate, compliant, and completed with strong quality control. You communicate clearly on requirements and keep multiple closings moving forward without sacrificing control.
This role supports a diverse portfolio of commercial construction-related financings that may include tax credit structures, equity investments, affordable housing components, bond-enhanced or direct pay letters of credit, permanent loan conversions, and multi-lender coordination. Success comes from balancing speed with disciplined execution, maintaining high attention to detail, and partnering effectively across multiple stakeholders. You will be expected to anticipate issues, document decisions, and drive timely resolution to close.
Job responsibilities:
Manage end-to-end closing activities for new loans, modifications, renewals, and extensions
Coordinate a mixed closing pipeline and prioritize work to meet deliverables and production standards
Review due diligence packages and identify risks and gaps required to reach closing readiness
Partner with internal stakeholders, clients, and legal counsel to resolve documentation and policy items
Examine loan booking packages for accuracy and alignment with approvals and required documentation
Prepare settlement statements to support release of loan funds and related financial transactions
Validate real estate due diligence items, including title, survey, formation documents, and insurance requirements
Maintain accurate records and closing data in established tracking tools and systems
Comply with quality assurance and control expectations across documentation and closing workflows
Support additional department projects as assigned
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Three years of direct experience closing commercial real estate loans
Demonstrated ability to work diplomatically with clients, bankers, and attorneys
Proven experience reviewing externally prepared commercial loan documentation
Working knowledge of borrower and guarantor entity structures and formation documentation
Experience preparing and completing commercial loan booking requests and related financial transactions
Strong knowledge of real estate due diligence, including title, survey, flood, and liability insurance requirements
Strong written and verbal communication skills with disciplined execution and follow-through
Ability to present complex topics clearly and concisely
Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and common business applications
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills:
Five years of commercial real estate loan closing experience
Experience supporting Community Development Banking transactions
Experience supporting New Markets Tax Credit loan closings
Experience with bond-enhanced or direct pay letters of credit
Experience supporting permanent loan conversions and construction-to-permanent structures
Experience coordinating multi-lender or multi-bank closings
