Summary Electrician Supervisor involves the direction and supervision of journeyman electronic mechanics, electricians, and others, as assigned, in the maintenance, installation, repair of all electronic and electrical apparatus, exclusive of patient equipment. Position is under the immediate supervision of Troy Bowling Campus Maintenance & Operations Supervisor of Facilities Management Service, who reviews work on end results achieved, makes decisions independently within the range of responsibility. Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to: Provides direction and supervision of journeyman electronic mechanics, electricians, and others, as assigned, in the maintenance, installation and repair of all electronic and electrical apparatus, exclusive of patient care medical equipment. Initiates work orders for repair and maintenance of equipment Assigns work to subordinates through oral and written instructions utilizing work orders, current job analysis, and standard operating procedures. Provides on-the-job training and participates in the formal training program for employees. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Keeps employee informed of changes within the service and or medical center. Incumbent also ensures that all service contractors provide all the proper documentation for test reports under JACHO format. Continually studies new literature to keep current in trade Follows VHA guidelines and regulatory standards relating to electrical safety and assures staff are practicing safe work. Evaluates employee's performance and counsel's journeyman regarding performance, administers disciplinary action when indicated, recommends to a higher level when needed or recommends performance awards, assists employees with personnel problems and complaints. Interviews applicants and make recommendations for hiring, promoting, reassignment, assists with orientation of new employees. Approves and schedules annual leave using sound judgement and good management practices to meet the needs of the service.
