Work Environment:
This position is full-time, is supported by state and federal funds (contingent on funding availability), and is eligible for a hybrid work environment.
Extended hours during the evening or the weekend may be required by business needs.
Commuting to the CDE buildings is required.
Larger state-wide travel may be required for relevant conferences and convenings.
A Remote (Home) office is required.

Position Summary:The Senior Web Manager and Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the Colorado Department of Education's public-facing website and statutorily required public data reporting website. This role aligns digital, visual, and web strategies with CDE's organizational goals, priority initiatives, and user needs, while ensuring consistency, accessibility, and quality across all web content.
Working in close collaboration with the Communications Office, Information Management Services (IMS), and internal stakeholders, the Senior Web Manager and Supervisor designs communications strategy for the department's website, provides strategic leadership for the Web Management Unit, delivers user-centered digital experiences, ensures compliance with industry best practices and statutory accessibility requirements, and supports continuous improvement through effective governance, analytics, and stakeholder guidance.The final salary is anticipated to fall within the posted salary range, however could be higher or lower depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other qualifications of the preferred candidate while considering internal equity.Major Duties and Responsibilities:A. In collaboration with CDE staff, oversee the development, organization, content creation and management, and communication strategy for the Agency's website, inclusive of:
Serving as key division lead in aligning digital, visual, and web strategies - inclusive of content planning, creation, and management - with -CDE's organizational goals, priority areas of focus, and relevant and timely needs.
Proactively managing and shaping CDE's digital and visual brand identity ensuring consistency, quality, accessibility, and alignment with agency priorities and needs
Providing project management leadership for the Web Management Unit to ensure timely and effective completion of assigned projects and routine operational needs
Advising internal staff on web policy, web communication strategy, and digital user experience.
B. Provide leadership, coaching, and ongoing professional development to direct and indirect reports C. Provide leadership to units and divisions to develop their web pages for maximum communication value, inclusive of ongoing training to support best practices in content development and website user experience inclusive of:
Organizing data and website design to ensure ease of access, user-centered navigation, and consistent content style and voice
Applying industry best practices in website management and accessibility compliance, mobile responsiveness, and adherence to established design, privacy, and usability standards.
Developing and providing training and ongoing technical support to CDE web content coordinators across units to maintain high-quality, accessible, and consistent web content.
D. Coordinate and centralize operations as needed to ensure website meets the needs of all users; leverage website analytics to assess effectiveness and support continuous improvement of user experiences E. Apply web industry best practices for website design, content creation and management, search engine optimization, and user experience managementSupervisory Responsibilities:This position does have supervisory responsibilities. The duties and responsibilities for employees that supervise staff include, but are not limited to the following:
Models and ensures consistency with organizational values and policies.
Clearly communicates expectations and standards to staff.
Conducts timely performance management of staff including formal evaluations, on-going and routine feedback, and holding staff accountable.
Awareness and approval of employee time worked and work schedules. This includes approval of time worked for payroll and monitoring and approval of all work schedules including remote work and flex schedules, based upon CDE's policies.
Provides the applicable tools and resources staff require to perform their job.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: This position requires five (5) years of experience only, OR A combination of education and experience totaling five (5) years.
Experience Only:
Five (5) years of professional experience in website management
Education and Experience:
A bachelor's degree will substitute for four (4) years of the required experience. The remaining 1 year of professional experience is described below.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Journalism, or another liberal arts field.
And
At least one (1) year of professional experience in website management.
QUALIFICATIONS AND CONDITIONS :Qualifications for Success in the Position:
Demonstrable track record of success managing complex projects
Experience in project management, communications, user-centered website design and/or management
Experience working with website content management systems (i.e., Finalsite, EdLio, Apptegy, or similar)
Experience using mobile-first design
Experience writing and editing website content
Ability to form strong relationships with all stakeholders to facilitate transparent and frequent communication
Ability to work with confidential information
Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong attention to detail (proofing work, spelling, grammar, formatting, etc.).
Demonstrated ability to effectively balance quality of work and productivity expectations.
Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate with internal and external customers (e.g. school districts, other CDE units).
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and organize work to accommodate and meet the changing needs of the department and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and exhibit a proactive approach to work.
Demonstrated ability to identify problems and recommend solutions prior to the standard being jeopardized.
Ability and willingness to travel.
Preferred Qualifications (Preferred/Not Required):
Experience working in a state education agency preferred.
Advanced knowledge in Finalsite preferred.
