Job Title: Operational Finance Director

Job Description
The Operational Finance Director leads the financial planning and performance management for headquarters and multiple manufacturing facilities, ensuring that strategic priorities translate into clear, measurable financial outcomes. This role partners closely with General Managers and business leaders to pressure test assumptions, optimize profitability, and drive operational excellence in a private equity-backed manufacturing environment. The director builds and maintains robust KPI dashboards, budgeting and forecasting processes, and capital allocation frameworks that support both organic growth and acquisition activity.
Responsibilities
Own and lead the financial planning process for headquarters and multiple factories, ensuring alignment with overall business strategy and objectives.
Pressure test the financial and operational assumptions of General Managers and business leaders, identifying opportunities for improvement and translating strategy into measurable financial targets.
Manage performance against the annual financial plan, including regular variance analysis, root cause analysis of underperformance, and timely course correction.
Design, build, and maintain operational KPI dashboards and scoreboards that provide real-time visibility into factory and business performance and create clear accountability.
Develop and implement best practices for budgeting, forecasting, capital allocation, and performance management in an active acquisition environment.
Connect strategic priorities to factory-level financial execution by establishing clear metrics, monitoring results, and focusing rigorously on the highest value opportunities.
Lead P&L analysis and financial statement review for headquarters and manufacturing facilities, ensuring accuracy, transparency, and actionable insights.
Support and evaluate M&A activities by analyzing financial performance, testing assumptions, and validating results in collaboration with private equity or investment stakeholders.
Drive process improvements across financial reporting, planning, and operational finance workflows to enhance efficiency and decision-making.
Partner with General Managers and factory leadership to develop, refine, and track KPIs that support continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Prepare and present clear, concise financial reports, dashboards, and recommendations to sr leadership and other key stakeholders.
Ensure consistency, quality, and scalability of financial tools, dashboards, and reporting across multiple manufacturing sites.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in a private equity or investment banking environment managing M&A activities and pressure testing financial results.
Strong background in a private equity-backed manufacturing industry, with direct exposure to plant or factory operations.
Demonstrated expertise in financial reporting, including P&L analysis and financial statement review.
Hands-on experience developing and managing KPI dashboards and scoreboards for factories or operational environments.
Track record of driving process improvements within finance and operations, particularly in manufacturing settings.
Ability to partner effectively with General Managers and business leaders to develop KPIs and translate strategy into financial targets.
Advanced skills in building and interpreting operational KPI dashboards that support real-time performance management.
Bachelor's degree (BS) required.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and root cause analysis capabilities with a focus on actionable outcomes.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively and influence senior stakeholders.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience working within a venture-backed or acquisition-focused organization.
Exposure to integrating newly acquired businesses into existing financial planning and reporting frameworks.
Familiarity with capital allocation processes in a multi-site manufacturing environment.
Experience connecting strategic priorities to factory-level execution through structured metrics and dashboards.
Comfort working in dynamic, change-oriented environments where continuous improvement and operational excellence are priorities.
Work Environment
The role operates within a private equity-backed manufacturing environment that focuses on mission-critical aerospace components and legacy suppliers. You will work closely with headquarters leadership and multiple factory teams, leveraging financial systems, dashboards, and analytical tools to provide real-time visibility into performance. The environment is fast-paced, data-driven, and highly collaborative, with a strong emphasis on operational excellence, process improvement, and disciplined capital allocation in an active acquisition setting.

This is a Permanent position based out of El Segundo, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $150000.00 - $250000.00/yr.
Will come with equity and bonus potential that still needs to be determined.
