Job Title: Manufacturing Technician
Job Description
This role supports production operations at a growing plastics manufacturing facility in Charleston. The Manufacturing Technician operates and monitors extrusion and fabrication equipment, maintains product quality, and supports a safe, efficient, and organized manufacturing environment in a fast-paced industrial setting.
Responsibilities
Operate and monitor production equipment used in plastic extrusion and fabrication to meet production targets.
Set up machines, load raw materials, and adjust operating settings to maintain consistent efficiency and product quality.
Perform routine inspections and checks to ensure products meet required specifications and quality standards.
Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues on production equipment and promptly escalate more complex maintenance needs.
Maintain accurate production records, quality documentation, and any required logs or reports.
Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards to support operational efficiency and safety.
Work closely with maintenance, quality, and leadership teams to resolve issues and improve processes.
Assist with hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems as needed.
Support continuous improvement efforts in a fast-paced, production-driven environment focused on uptime and safety.
Essential Skills
1+ year of manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience preferred.
Mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and operate extrusion or plastics processing equipment.
Ability to read basic measurements and follow written and verbal work instructions.
Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled industrial environment with heat, humidity, and noise.
Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks safely.
Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and safety.
Experience in fast-paced, 24/7 production environments.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills, with electrical and hydraulic experience considered a plus.
Familiarity with PLCs, automated equipment, or preventive maintenance programs is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Plastics, extrusion, or industrial manufacturing experience preferred.
Experience as a process technician, machine operator, or in a similar production role.
Exposure to electrical, hydraulic, or automated production systems.
Comfort working with plastic extrusion and specialized plastics processing equipment.
Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including maintenance and quality.
Willingness to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including days and nights, and overtime as needed.

Work Environment
This role is based in an industrial plastics facility located on the water, with exposure to heat, humidity, and noise. The environment is fast-paced and production-driven, with a strong focus on uptime, safety, and cleanliness. Employees work 12-hour rotating shifts on a schedule where they work 15 days per month, typically 48 hours one week and 36 hours the next, rotating between day and night shifts (for example, 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m.). The schedule generally follows a pattern of seven days on and seven days off, with limited shift changes while on contract. Overtime is available. The role involves hands-on troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, and requires wearing appropriate PPE at all times in a clean, organized, but non-climate-controlled industrial setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.
