Job Description
Dakota County Technical College seeks an temporary, part-time Practical Nursing Instructor dedicated to excellence in teaching who desires to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to interdisciplinary and cross-cultural perspectives. Faculty members at Dakota County Technical College are professionally active scholars who participate in departmental and campus-wide activities to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college mission. This temporary, part-time assignment includes teaching PNSG 1600: Clinical 1 and PSNG 1620: Clinical 2 during the 2026-2027 academic year. The teaching load is anticipated to be 8 credits per term in both the fall and spring semesters. The assignment start date is August 24, 2026. Instruction will be delivered off-site at clinical locations.

Responsibilities:
Teach Practical Nursing clinicals (Clinical I and Clinical II).
Instructor is responsible for all activities related to teaching and learning including, but not limited to: instructional planning, curriculum development, student evaluation and records, classroom/climate preparation and management, interpersonal relations, promote safety in all aspects of program activities, participate in professional development experiences, work as an effective team member of the department, maintenance of professional skills and credentials, and participate on college.
Salary Range
Faculty assigned less than 5 credits: Per credit rate of $775 - $1650.
Faculty assigned 5 or more credits total: $43,067 - $96,601 Annually (Based upon 1.0 FTE of 32 credits per years. Pay will be prorated, based upon credit load). Salary placement is determined on the basis of education and experience and in accordance with the 2025 - 2027 MSCF Contract, and conducted by the Minnesota State System Office. Initial placement is limited to the step range permitted for new faculty under the MSCF salary schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree in nursing or a graduate degree in support of the field of nursing and/or education with a Bachelor's degree in Nursing if the graduate degree is not in Nursing.
A nursing program director must hold a graduate degree in nursing, nursing administration, nursing education, public health nursing or a nursing clinical specialty.
Occupational Experience Requirement
Two full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a registered nurse at the professional level.
As a registered nurse at the professional level, experientially qualified to accomplish the mission, goals, and expected student and faculty outcomes; including experiential preparation in the areas the faculty will teach.
Recency Requirement
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement
Current unencumbered licensure as a registered nurse (RN) with current registration in Minnesota.
Other Requirements
Compliance with clinical affiliate policies for attending on-site clinical teaching assignments.
