You'll be part of an innovative team advancing our mission to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As the site Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist, you'll lead the facility EHS efforts, provide expert guidance and leadership in environmental health, safety, and sustainability programs across the organization. You'll collaborate with site-based teams at all levels to develop and implement comprehensive EHS management systems, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and create a strong safety-focused culture. You will collaborate with, be supported by and learn from EHS colleagues around the globe. This role combines strategic thinking with practical problem-solving to protect our employees, environment, and facilities while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
A Day in the Life :
Managesthe Environmental, Health and Safety program at the Greenfield facility.
Ensures that all licensing, permitting, or other environmental, health or safety requirements are met at assigned site and takesappropriate actionsto ensure that any non-compliance issues are resolved.?Responds to EHS-related regulatory inspections and/or inquiries.
Maintains up to date knowledge and ensures thatprogramsmeet federal, state, and local requirements (e.g,IOSHA,IDEM, DOT, etc.), as well as company EHS requirements.Develops and updates allenvironmental,healthand safety relatedprogramsrthe Greenfield laboratoryfacility.??
Updates site management on new or changed regulationsin a timely manner.?Pro-activelymakes recommendations onfeasiblesolutions and alternativesthat ensurecompliance.?
Responds to inquiriesfrom employees and leaders.
Coordinatessafe removal and disposal of hazardous/biological waste from facility on a regularbasis.? Maintains and monitors waste manifest system.? Completes reporting forms and documents for all required regulatory agencies.?Monitors hazardous waste removalvendors andmay assist in consolidating hazardous wastes.
Develops andconductsenvironmental,health and safety training programs, including refreshertrainingsas required by regulations.???
May leadthe Environmental,Health & Safety committees, act asChemicalHygiene Officer,Workers Compcoordinator,SpillResponse Team leader, Emergency Action Plan coordinator,etc,
Seeks guidance and support from senior EHS leaders, asneeded.Performs periodic safety inspections.
Keys to Success :
Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification. Preferred Fields of Study: Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or related technical field
Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 5 years).?"Laboratory, pharmaceutical, biotech, clinical research, healthcare, or regulated manufacturing environment preferred."
In?some?cases,?an?equivalency,?consisting of a combination of appropriate?education, training and/or directly?related?experience, will be?considered sufficient for an?individual?to?meet?the requirements of?the?role.?
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
In-depthknowledge ofIOSHA,IDEM,DOT andother applicable regulations,includinghazardous/infectious waste regulations, chemical/biologicalsafety regulations.
Experienceimplementing and maintaining EHS programs (e.g., Chemical Hygiene,PPE, Respiratory Protection,Hazard Communication,Ergonomics,etc.)
Experience with emergency response and business continuity planning
Ability to interact successfully with the site leadership team.
Strong presentation skills and the ability to provide effective training?
