Job Title: Automotive Assembler
Job Description
The Automotive Assembler installs, assembles, and finishes mechanical, electrical, CNG, and body systems on vehicles to meet dimensional, functional, and quality requirements. This role performs both preventative and corrective work on CNG compression and dispensing systems, installs a wide range of automotive components, and completes finishing tasks to prepare vehicles for presentation, while strictly following safety procedures and work instructions.
Responsibilities
Install, assemble, and finish CNG compression and dispensing systems, including compressors, dryers, filtration systems, high-pressure storage cascades, valves, and pipelines.
Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on compressors, valves, pipelines, and electrical control systems related to CNG systems.
Conduct safety checks, including leak detection, to ensure safe operation of CNG and related systems.
Support installation of CNG cylinders and kits, fuel lines, and injection systems.
Install mechanical components such as brackets, suspension and steering components, doors, seating systems, HVAC units, fasteners, and hardware.
Install AC units, windshields, and final flooring, and support work in other assembly departments as needed.
Perform torque-controlled fastening using calibrated tools and follow specified torque requirements.
Align and fit components to meet dimensional, functional, and cosmetic requirements.
Identify and report fitment issues, damaged parts, or discrepancies between parts and drawings.
Route, secure, and terminate electrical wiring and cable harnesses in accordance with specifications.
Install electrical components including switches, lighting, displays, sensors, batteries, and control modules.
Perform crimping, stripping, and connector installation in accordance with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent standards.
Conduct basic electrical continuity and functional checks on installed electrical systems.
Install fiberglass body panels, roof caps, access doors, insulation, and exterior trim.
Drill, bond, seal, and fasten composite components using adhesives, sealants, and mechanical fasteners.
Perform minor surface preparation, trimming, sanding, and finishing on body and composite components.
Ensure proper panel alignment, consistent gaps, and high-quality cosmetic appearance.
Install finishing components such as seat assemblies, lighting panels, railing systems, and component enclosures.
Apply finishing trims, moldings, and sealants to complete the vehicle interior and exterior.
Clean and prepare the bus or vehicle for final presentation and delivery.
Use hand and power tools, basic measuring tools, templates, and jigs to complete assembly tasks accurately.
Follow detailed work instructions, engineering drawings, torque specifications, and quality checkpoints.
Complete in-process inspections and accurately document work performed as required.
Support quality investigations, perform rework, and implement corrective actions when needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S principles and safety standards.
Essential Skills
Experience in automotive assembly or automotive manufacturing environments.
Hands-on experience with automotive repair and automotive mechanics.
Knowledge of CNG systems, including CNG compression and dispensing systems, CNG stations, pressure valves, and high-pressure storage cascades.
Ability to perform mechanical assembly using hand and power tools.
Experience with automotive electrical systems and electrical assembly.
Ability to read and follow blueprints, drawings, work instructions, and torque specifications.
Skill in routing, securing, and terminating electrical wiring and cable harnesses.
Ability to perform torque-controlled fastening using calibrated tools.
Capability to identify and report fitment issues, damaged parts, or drawing discrepancies.
Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 or equivalent standards for crimping, stripping, and connector installation.
Ability to perform basic electrical continuity and functional checks.
Experience installing fiberglass body panels, roof caps, access doors, insulation, and exterior trim.
Skill in drilling, bonding, sealing, and fastening composite components with adhesives, sealants, and mechanical fasteners.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience installing HVAC units, AC systems, windshields, and final flooring.
Background in working with CNG cylinders, fuel lines, and injection systems.
Experience installing seating systems, doors, railing systems, lighting panels, and component enclosures.
Familiarity with quality inspection processes, in-process documentation, and supporting quality investigations and rework.
Experience with finishing work including trims, moldings, sealants, and vehicle preparation for presentation.
Comfort working across multiple assembly departments and supporting a variety of build stages.

Work Environment
This role involves frequent use of hands and fingers for assembly tasks, including welding, grinding, and fitting operations. You regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials and equipment up to 40 lbs, with occasional heavier lifting using assistance. The position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and squatting for extended periods during a shift. Good hand-eye coordination is essential for precise assembly and fitting, and strong visual acuity, including color and depth perception, is needed for inspecting work and reading drawings. You must be able to hear alarms, signals, and communicate effectively in a noisy environment. Work takes place in areas exposed to hot or cold temperatures depending on the production area and season. Noise levels range from moderate to high, and hearing protection may be required. You may encounter welding fumes, dust, and airborne particles, with appropriate respiratory protection and ventilation provided as required. Work is performed in well-lit areas, sometimes with supplemental task lighting. Surfaces may be uneven, metal, or grating, and you may need to climb ladders or work at elevated positions. Personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, protective clothing, and other safety gear is required in accordance with safety standards. The environment includes exposure to sparks, molten metal, and moving machinery, and strict adherence to established safety procedures is mandatory.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr.
