Electrical Technician - San Diego, CA - Career Opportunity

Job Description

As an Electrical Technician, you will inspect, test, repair, and troubleshoot electrical equipment within the shipyard facility and occasionally onboard vessels. You will install and maintain electrical equipment in accordance with shipyard needs and applicable standards. Your role will involve mounting equipment on foundations, cabinets, power panels, PLC controllers, and motor controllers, and connecting electrical components. You will perform all commissioning and testing functions for electrical equipment, including cold insulation checks, physical inspections, initial light off and testing, and final operational testing.

Responsibilities

Inspect, test, and repair electrical equipment in and around the shipyard facility and onboard vessels.

Install electrical equipment according to shipyard standards.

Mount equipment on foundations, cabinets, power panels, and controllers.

Perform commissioning and testing functions for various electrical equipment.

Test equipment such as motors, generators, switchboards, power panels, and more.

Essential Skills

Proven experience in troubleshooting and repairing electrical equipment.

Ability to perform layout and installation of electrical equipment.

Knowledge of electrical theory and wiring practices.

Proficiency in reading cable and wire color codes.

Capability to read blueprints, schematic diagrams, and use electrical test equipment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with hand and power tools.

Ability to work 1st Shift (0630 - 1530) and at heights.

Comprehension of written and verbal instructions and safety regulations.

Proficiency with electrical test equipment.

Work Environment

You will work within a shipyard facility, focusing on maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment rather than ship boarding work. The position requires working 1st Shift hours from 0630 to 1530.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $40.00/hr.
