Job Description
This role focuses on operational and intermediate level maintenance for F/A-18 aircraft, with a primary emphasis on the inspection, maintenance, and repair of ejection seats and associated egress systems to ensure aircraft remain mission ready. You will support aircrew safety and aircraft readiness by performing detailed maintenance on ejection seats and related components, while also contributing to broader aircraft structural and systems maintenance as needed.
Responsibilities
Inspect, maintain, and repair F/A-18 ejection seats and related egress systems to ensure safety, reliability, and mission readiness.
Plan, direct, organize, and evaluate aircrew flight equipment operations related to equipment accountability, personnel reliability, and mobility requirements.
Perform operational (O-Level) and intermediate (I-Level) maintenance tasks in accordance with applicable technical manuals, procedures, and regulations.
Maintain, repair, and modify aircraft structures and structural components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and other mechanical components as required.
Ensure all maintenance actions on ejection seats and associated systems comply with Navy and Marine Corps standards and documentation requirements.
Troubleshoot and diagnose issues with ejection seats and related systems, implementing corrective actions to restore full functionality.
Support operational readiness by prioritizing maintenance tasks and coordinating with maintenance teams and flight operations as needed.
Maintain accurate records of inspections, maintenance actions, repairs, and modifications in accordance with applicable maintenance management systems.
Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when working on ejection seats, egress systems, and aircraft components.
Assist with training and mentoring other maintenance personnel on proper ejection seat maintenance practices and procedures when required.
Essential Skills
Active Secret security clearance.
Completion of a Department of Defense "A" school for seat mechanic/egress systems.
Completion of a U.S. Navy or U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 "C" school specific to the SJU-17 ejection seat.
At least 1 year of experience working on F/A-18 aircraft.
Extensive maintenance and repair experience on Naval or U.S. Marine Corps F/A-18 aircraft.
Hands-on experience with ejection seat and egress systems maintenance.
Proficiency in maintaining, repairing, and modifying aircraft structures and structural components, including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
Familiarity with Navy and Marine Corps maintenance procedures and technical publications.
Strong attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols when working with ejection seats and egress systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Marine Corps MOS codes related to ejection seat maintenance such as 6281, 6282, 6283, 6286, 6287, or 6288.
Extensive ejection seat experience and related certifications may substitute for direct F/A-18 experience.
Experience working within a military aviation maintenance environment, particularly Navy or Marine Corps aviation.
Ability to interpret and follow technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and engineering directives.
Strong organizational skills to manage equipment accountability and documentation.
Ability to work effectively within a maintenance team and coordinate with flight operations personnel.

Work Environment
This is a first-shift position, Monday through Thursday, from 6:30 AM to 4:30 PM. You will work at a Marine Corps Air Station in a combination of environments, including inside aircraft hangars, on the flight line, and in backshop areas. The role involves hands-on work around operational aircraft, requiring adherence to safety procedures and coordination with active flight operations in a structured military aviation setting.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $42.89 - $42.89/hr.
