Sr. Accountant

Description We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support key accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in San Francisco, California. This role will play a central part in period-end activities, financial reporting, and maintaining accurate records across payroll, commissions, and accruals. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting skills and can work independently in a part-time schedule of approximately 20 to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

Lead core month-end close activities and help ensure timely completion of assigned accounting tasks.

Calculate commission expense and prepare related accounting entries, including treatment for deferred commissions.

Record payroll-related journal entries with accuracy and proper supporting documentation.

Perform reconciliations across key balance sheet accounts, including accounts payable and bank-related activity.

Maintain monthly accrual schedules and post recurring or adjusting entries as needed.

Produce monthly and quarterly revenue reporting for internal stakeholders.

Assemble financial reporting packages and supporting analyses for leadership and board-level review.

Prepare quarterly accounting entries related to equity activity and capitalized software, ensuring alignment with accounting policies. Requirements - Proven experience managing month-end close processes in a senior accounting capacity.

Strong knowledge of general ledger activity and the preparation of accurate journal entries.

Hands-on experience completing account reconciliations and resolving discrepancies efficiently.

Familiarity with bank reconciliations and other routine balance sheet reconciliation work.

Ability to prepare clear financial reports and summarize results for business leaders.

Solid understanding of accrual-based accounting and quarterly accounting adjustments.

Capable of working independently in a part-time arrangement of 20 to 30 hours per week.
