Job Title: Superintendent of ConstructionJob Description
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Superintendent of Construction to oversee ground-up commercial projects from initial site clearing through final closeout. You will lead field operations in a structured, repeatable project environment where standardized programs, historical data, and detailed checklists support consistent execution. The position focuses on hands-on leadership in the field, with an emphasis on subcontractor coordination, project scheduling, quality control, safety, and clear communication with project management and other field leaders. You will work within a collaborative superintendent culture, supported by leadership that provides clear expectations, proven systems, and a long-term vision for field success.
Responsibilities
Oversee ground-up commercial construction projects from grubbing and site clearing through final completion and closeout.
Manage and coordinate all subcontractor activities on site to ensure alignment with project goals, schedules, and standards.
Enforce project standards, quality control measures, and safety protocols throughout all phases of construction.
Produce consistent and accurate field documentation, including daily reports, progress photos, and Job Hazard Analyses.
Develop, update, and maintain four-week look-ahead schedules to drive field planning and execution.
Review and break down look-ahead schedules with subcontractors on a weekly basis to ensure clarity and accountability.
Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings to address progress, constraints, and upcoming work.
Communicate effectively with project management and field leadership to provide updates, address issues, and support timely decision-making.
Participate in ongoing collaboration with other superintendents to share best practices and continuously improve field operations.
Maintain momentum, decisiveness, and a solution-focused approach in a fast-paced construction environment.
Apply construction management and supervision best practices to support efficient, high-quality project delivery.
Interpret and work from blueprints and construction documents to guide field activities and ensure adherence to design intent.
Support project scheduling efforts by coordinating site activities, sequencing work, and monitoring progress against the schedule.
Promote a strong safety culture on site by reinforcing OSHA standards and company safety policies.
Ensure quality control across all aspects of site construction, including tenant improvements and retail-focused builds.
Essential Skills
7-10+ years of Superintendent experience on ground-up commercial construction projects.
Proven experience managing projects from site work through final closeout.
Demonstrated ability to manage and coordinate multiple subcontractors on active construction sites.
Hands-on experience with ground-up commercial construction, including site construction activities.
Strong understanding of construction scheduling, including development and management of four-week look-ahead schedules.
Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software for documentation and project controls.
Experience in construction management, construction supervision, and working with general contractors.
Strong background in safety management and adherence to OSHA standards, with OSHA 30 certification noted.
Proven ability to produce consistent field documentation such as daily reports, progress photos, and Job Hazard Analyses.
Solid understanding of quality control practices in commercial construction, including tenant improvement work.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
Comfort operating within standardized programs and repeatable build processes.
Strong communication skills for effective coordination with project management, field leadership, and subcontractors.
Demonstrated ability to maintain performance and decisiveness in a fast-paced construction environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience with restaurant, retail, dental, medical, or small grocery construction projects.

Work Environment
You will work primarily in the field on commercial construction sites, including tenant improvement projects such as a grocery store buildout. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with a strong emphasis on safety, quality, and schedule adherence. Projects follow standardized, repeatable programs supported by historical data, checklists, and collaborative field leadership, enabling you to focus on execution and field controls. You will regularly interact with subcontractors, project managers, and other superintendents, participating in weekly coordination meetings and ongoing knowledge sharing. The role centers on active site presence, overseeing daily activities, monitoring progress, and ensuring that all work aligns with project standards and safety requirements.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of High Springs, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.00 - $52.00/hr.
