Summary About the Position: This is a Medical Readiness Specialist position with 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning, GA. Responsibilities Conducting medical preparedness evaluations and providing readiness status reports to leadership to ascertain policy and procedure requirements for immediate deployment readiness Providing program management and training oversight to incorporate unit requirements into automated health tracking systems to accurately record the medical and deployment status of the supported population. Reviewing and providing analysis of potential medical threats, endemic and epidemic diseases, and environmental conditions to provide recommendations for counter-threat measures and training. Analyzing and interpreting higher headquarters proposed regulations and directives to advise leadership and coordinate the impact and feasibility of medical initiatives with counterpart staff. Monitoring and overseeing medical material requirements to maintain deployment readiness of medical equipment sets, and executing medical logistics and supply operations. Inspecting for proper controls of controlled and sensitive medical items and functioning as the organizational narcotics control officer to report non-compliance or abnormalities. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Evaluating medical personnel data to identify shortfalls in organizational deployment preparedness; coordinating medical logistics requirements to maintain readiness of medical equipment sets; and analyzing potential medical and environmental health threats to recommend force protection measures. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
