Job Description
AECOM is actively seeking a motivated, hands-on Construction Materials & Quality Control Technician / Field Runner to support major transportation infrastructure projects throughout Utah. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, safety, and long-term performance of roadway and transportation improvements for the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) and other public agency clients.

In this role, you will support construction teams by performing materials testing, documenting quality control activities, coordinating field operations, and assisting project staff with the collection and delivery of samples, reports, and project-related materials. You will work closely with inspectors, contractors, laboratory personnel, and project managers to help ensure construction activities meet project specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials including concrete, asphalt, aggregate, soil, and other roadway materials.
Collect, transport, and track material samples between project sites and testing laboratories.
Conduct daily field observations and inspections to verify compliance with project plans, specifications, and quality requirements.
Maintain accurate testing records, inspection reports, and project documentation.
Support quality assurance and quality control efforts on active construction projects.
Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, laboratory staff, and project teams regarding testing schedules and project needs.
Assist with monitoring construction activities and documenting project progress.
Participate in punch list activities, testing, and project closeout efforts.
Track quality-related issues and communicate findings to project stakeholders.
Utilize experience and judgment to prioritize assignments and meet project deadlines.
Provide on-the-job guidance and training to less experienced team members as needed.
Safely operate company vehicles and travel to project sites throughout the region.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent plus 4 years of related experienc e , or demonstrated equivalency through a combination of education and experience.
Valid driver's license required.
Ability to lift and carry at least 50 pounds on a consistent basis.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
Preferred Qualifications
SRDTT Concrete Testing Certification.
Prior UDOT construction inspection or materials testing experience.
Previous experience working with a municipal, county, or state transportation agency.
Experience performing construction materials testing and quality control documentation.
Familiarity with roadway, bridge, and transportation construction projects.
Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The range for this position is $29 to $49.
