Role Overview:
The Field Fraud Investigator conducts investigations and communicates findings with DCD Management and key stakeholders. Reports are recieved through the public DCS Fraud Line and assigned by the Chief Investigator for follow up. You will gather information from DCS systems and contracted providers, communicate findings, and process appeals. Fraud investigations change as new programs, guidelines, and legislation are created. Job duties change as needed.
The ideal candidate will have experience in contract review, accounting standards and principles, child welfare policies, and fraud investigation techniques. Required skills include:
Strategy development, task execution, and time management.
Data management and reporting.
Comparative analysis and ability to identify discrepancies.
Proficiency in using the Microsoft 365 productivity suite.
This remote position works primarily in Northwest Indiana and will assigned to investgations in multiple locations. Local office space is available as needed. Assignments may include additional regions as need arises. Residency in the primary service area is preferred. Work-related mileage is reimbursed.
Salary:

A Day in the Life:
The essential functions of this role are as follows:
Perform audits to determine if business is operating within the scope of applicable State law.
Perform audits as assigned by reviewing various records as they pertain to the assigned functions.
Prepare current ratio and balance sheet reports on licensed firms as assigned by completing an audit of the firm's business records and confirming balances.
Submit written and oral reports of audit findings to the agency.
Assist and service various entities in the license application process as assigned.
Provide the Director and the agency with recommendations of business status and solvency.
Compile information for potential criminal prosecution.
Testify as necessary at legal proceedings as a field auditor.
Represent the agency in business relations within the state.

What You'll Need for Success:
Individuals in this role should minimally be able to articulate or demonstrate the following:
Knowledge and skill typically acquired through a bachelor's degree, related academic training and relevant work experience may substitute for a bachelor's degree where appropriate.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to comprehend and interpret applicable state and federal regulations.
Specialized knowledge of the principles and practices of accounting, business management, and economics.
Ability to use computers and familiarity with basic data entry, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple projects.
Ability to work independently and with others as needed.
Maintain all applicable safety policies and procedures.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
Ability to travel extensively within the state with some nights away from home to conduct audits.
Ability to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
