Accounts Receivable Specialist

Description We are looking for an Accounts Receivable Specialist to join our team in Irvine, California in a contract capacity with the potential for a long-term opportunity. This role is suited for someone who is highly detail-oriented and can manage receivables activity, apply cash accurately, and maintain strong account records in a business-to-business environment. The ideal candidate will bring experience supporting collections, resolving payment issues, and contributing to timely month-end accounting activities.

Responsibilities:

Oversee business-to-business receivables for a mix of local, regional, and national customer accounts while maintaining organized account status updates.

Record incoming payments promptly and accurately, ensuring all cash applications are reflected correctly in customer ledgers.

Handle the receipt and posting of rent payments with close attention to timing, documentation, and account accuracy.

Review account balances, investigate variances, and resolve payment-related discrepancies through detailed reconciliation.

Track past-due balances through aging analysis and conduct consistent follow-up to support collection efforts.

Maintain complete records of cash receipts, account transactions, and supporting backup for audit and reporting purposes.

Contribute to month-end close by preparing accounts receivable activity and assisting with related reconciliations.

Provide ad hoc reporting and account analysis to support finance operations and management decision-making.

Use Yardi to enter transactions, manage receivable records, and monitor account activity across the portfolio. Requirements - At least 3 years of experience in accounts receivable within a business-to-business environment.

Hands-on background in cash applications, commercial collections, billing support, and daily cash activity processing.

Experience preparing and reviewing aging reports to identify overdue balances and collection priorities.

Working knowledge of Yardi and comfort using accounting systems to maintain accurate financial records.

Familiarity with commercial property management accounting practices, including rent payment processing.

Ability to reconcile customer accounts, research discrepancies, and resolve issues with strong attention to detail.

Understanding of general ledger impact related to accounts receivable transactions and month-end activities.
