The Construction Manager oversees construction projects from initial planning through completion, ensuring all work complies with project design, customer requirements, and applicable codes and safety regulations. This role focuses on field-based leadership, coordination of subcontractors and suppliers, quality control, and documentation, particularly within energy-related construction projects such as generator replacement and installation. The Construction Manager plays a key role in delivering safe, reliable, and efficient solutions that support energy resiliency and low-carbon objectives while maintaining scope, budget, schedule, and permitting requirements.
Responsibilities
Oversee all phases of construction projects from planning to completion, ensuring alignment with project design, customer requirements, and applicable codes and safety regulations.
Monitor construction progress on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, and contribute to accurate and timely reporting.
Manage and coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to meet construction schedules and project milestones.
Lead quality control for all construction activities, coordinating and scheduling quality inspections with contractors and suppliers.
Expedite materials, inspect deliveries, and prepare material inspection reports, addressing and managing any nonconformances identified.
Coordinate and resolve Requests for Information (RFIs) between contractors, suppliers, and customers to maintain clarity and progress.
Participate in regular project meetings, providing clear updates on site conditions, progress, risks, and challenges.
Assist in coordinating commissioning activities and perform job close-out procedures, ensuring all documentation and requirements are complete.
Maintain effective working relationships with customers, partners, suppliers, and subcontractors to support successful project delivery.
Prepare and maintain weekly status reports, including relevant data and photos, to document project progress.
Create and maintain comprehensive project status and progress documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
Ensure strict compliance with the site HSSE (Health, Safety, Security, and Environment) plan, including conducting and documenting safety briefings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
Work full-time in the field, providing on-site leadership and oversight with minimal office-based duties.
Support the delivery of energy resiliency and reliability solutions that meet customer expectations for performance, low carbon footprint, and economic value.
Essential Skills
Minimum of 5 years of experience in on-site construction management.
Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle for travel to project sites.
Strong background in general construction with hands-on field experience.
Proven experience managing construction scope, budget, schedule, and permitting requirements.
Familiarity with energy-related construction projects, particularly involving power generation or similar systems.
Experience managing and coordinating subcontractors and suppliers on active construction sites.
Demonstrated ability to oversee quality control processes and manage material inspections and nonconformances.
Proactive problem-solving approach with a strong focus on safety and risk management/mitigation.
Comfortable in client-facing situations, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally.
Ability to work effectively in small teams within a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
Proficiency with MS Project or similar project scheduling tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree preferred, ideally in construction management or a related field.
background in mechanical work such as generators, plumbing, or similar systems.
Experience working on projects involving replacement or installation of power generation equipment, such as diesel or natural gas generators.
Strong documentation and reporting skills, including the ability to produce clear status reports with supporting photos.
Experience participating in commissioning activities and project close-out processes.
Familiarity with HSSE practices, including leading safety briefings, toolbox talks, and Job Hazard Analyses.
Interest in contributing to projects that support energy resiliency, reliability, and reduced carbon footprints.
Work Environment
This is a field-based role that requires being on-site full-time with minimal office-based work. Current projects involve replacing older diesel generators that provide power to several apartment buildings with new high-efficiency natural gas generators. Work includes setting up temporary generators to maintain power while existing systems are replaced, requiring careful coordination and adherence to safety procedures. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, with frequent interaction with subcontractors, suppliers, customers, and small project teams. Standard construction-site conditions apply, including outdoor and indoor work, exposure to active equipment and machinery, and adherence to site-specific HSSE plans. The role relies on common construction tools and equipment, as well as regular use of MS Office Suite and MS Project for reporting and scheduling. Dress typically follows standard construction site requirements, including appropriate safety gear and personal protective equipment as defined by site policies.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr.
