Job Title: Registered Nurse - Dermatology (Surgey)
Job Description
This full-time Registered Nurse role supports a busy medical office in New Haven County, with a strong focus on dermatology. You will provide advanced telephone triage, review and audit clinical data, and communicate results to patients through an electronic chart system and by phone. The position combines direct patient interaction with detailed clinical documentation, quality assurance activities, and support for ongoing research and education within a leading academic dermatology department.
Responsibilities
Perform advanced telephone triage to assess patient needs, prioritize care, and provide appropriate guidance within established clinical protocols.
Audit and review medical and laboratory data to ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely follow-up.
Collect, organize, and manage laboratory data in the electronic chart system, ensuring information is up to date and clearly documented.
Communicate test results and follow-up information to patients via the electronic chart system and telephonically, while ensuring that diagnoses and interpretations are delivered by the provider.
Provide clear follow-up instructions and next steps to patients based on provider guidance and established care plans.
Act as a liaison between patients, families, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate care and support a seamless patient experience.
Maintain accurate, thorough nursing records and clinical documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system.
Monitor inventory levels, order clinical supplies as needed, and help maintain an organized, well-stocked work area.
Perform quality assurance (QA) functions as directed, contributing to continuous improvement of clinical processes and patient care.
Assist with the orientation and training of new personnel and clinical staff, sharing best practices and supporting their integration into the team.
Participate in research activities as appropriate, supporting clinical trials, disease-focused research, and other departmental projects.
Collaborate with dermatologists and other specialists to support personalized treatment plans and high-quality dermatologic care.
Essential Skills
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Professional experience as a Registered Nurse in a clinical setting.
Demonstrated experience in telephone triage and patient assessment.
Proficiency with electronic health record systems, preferably EPIC.
Strong patient care skills with the ability to provide clear, empathetic communication in person and over the phone.
Ability to collect, manage, and audit lab and clinical data with a high level of accuracy.
Experience maintaining detailed clinical documentation and records.
Organizational skills to monitor and order supplies and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
Ability to perform quality assurance activities and follow established clinical protocols.
Capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent nursing education.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
At least 1 year of RN experience in a medical office setting is preferred.
Dermatology nursing experience is highly desirable.
Prior experience working in an academic or research-oriented healthcare environment is a plus.
Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record systems beyond basic use is beneficial.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
