JOB REQUIREMENTS: SENIOR ASSISTANT CORPORATION COUNSEL Kenosha County is
seeking a motivated person to join our Corporation Counsel office as a
Senior Assistant Corporation Counsel. Kenosha County Corporation Counsel
serves as legal counsel to the Kenosha County Board of Supervisors, the
County Executive and to 31 county departments and divisions, as well as
several county boards and commissions. Legal services consist of
conducting legal research, providing legal analysis, giving opinions,
counseling individuals on risks and benefits of actions, and drafting
and revising legal documents. Kenosha County offers candidates the

land use, zoning, and real property concerns and will handle mental

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Handle various real estate transactions and
real property matters including acquisitions, sales, and evictions. Work
with other County personnel on taking and disposing of tax delinquent
properties. Give legal advice and opinions when asked and consult with
other attorneys when unable to provide an answer. Represent Kenosha
County\'s interests in civil litigation and with regards to claims and
lawsuits filed against Kenosha County. Review claims filed against the
county and assess possible liability, defenses, and damage exposure.
Work with risk management in evaluating and settling the larger claims
as requested or assigned. Draft legal documents for Kenosha County
clients. Analyze current laws on the ordinance books and update them.
Assess risks and liabilities when updating. Review, modify, and approve
existing legal contracts and agreements. Review and revise existing
policies and practices for various departments and entities to determine
if they are in compliance with the current law. Fill in and cover for
another attorney when needed. May have to give presentations regarding
legal process. Step in and act as parliamentarian when called upon at
County Board meetings. Be available if the County Executive or County
Board Chair needs legal analysis. Represent office at community group
meetings. Prepare and appear in court for commitment and guardianship
cases. Perform other work as required or assigned. COMPETENCIES FOR
SUCCESSFUL PERFORMANCE OF JOB DUTIES Knowledge of: Legal research and
resources, general legal concepts and issues pertaining to
municipalities. Work done in other departments and divisions and the
statutory requirements for their work. Land use, zoning, real property,
and taxation law. The law relating to Chapter 51, 54, and 55 of
Wisconsin statutes. Skill in: Courtroom litigation, case management, and
general legal skills. Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams to
create documents and communicate. Communication, both verbally and in
writing. Negotiation, analysis, and interpersonal communications.
Ability to: Conduct research in legal issues and apply them to
applicable policies and regulations. Draft and revise legal documents
and policies clearly and concisely. Negotiate with adverse parties and
resolve conflicts. Be creative with information and providing advice.
Work in a group setting. Be flexible with time. Organize files for an
effective presentation to the court. Prepare for meetings and be
available to meet others. Apply municipal law to a variety of situations
and determine responsibilities of each party. Maintain confidentiality
requirements. Work independently to meet deadlines. Remain professional
