Summary This position serves as a Supervisory Medical Administration Specialist for Business Office Outpatient, Mental Health, Specialty and/or Primary Care services at the CBOCs and directly reports to the Assistant Chief of the Business Office. This position is responsible for providing a high level of administrative support to the Business Office, upper management, and clinical services. Responsibilities Duties will include but are not limited to: Plans the work to be accomplished by subordinates, sets and adjust short term priorities, and prepare schedules for the completion of work. Keeps the healthcare groups informed and up to date concerning appropriate administrative regulations. Conducts individual quality assurance/process improvement checks/studies. Analyzes situations to determine if decisions can be made independently, or if the advice of a higher authority is needed concerning special problems which may involve public relations. Provides for the development of monitors in measuring data input. Establishes and coordinates in-depth trainings/training materials with the Management Analysts to ensure Business Office personnel and other identified Medical Center staff members are educated and held accountable for data management. Conducts special studies designed to identify opportunities to improve customer service and process quality. Assists in ensuring clinical access to care period monitors work processes to prevent ineffective work practices and to verify adherence to the plans and requirements of the work unit. Develops and manages databases necessary for tracking Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) training/participation and makes recommendations concerning funding and policy issues based upon the information collected. Ability to identify and analyze complex problems or situations with a range of variables. Ability to complete assigned projects, studies, narrative and statistical reports, reviews in a thorough, accurate, and timely manner. Ability to explain and organize complex issues in writing, interpret and explain VA policies to: house staff; patients; employees; and others, and to cope with a wide variety of problems and to resolve them quickly and decisively.
