This role leads a team that ensures our contract accounting work is accurate, trusted, and aligned with the needs of our government and international customers. You'll guide a talented group of professionals, support major contract decisions, and help shape the financial success of key programs. The position plays a central role in reviewing complex agreements, supporting revenue outcomes, and strengthening our financial processes. Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics
8+ years of experience in accounting for a government contracted company
Experience with ASC 606/ revenue recognition, FAR and DFAR, offset/ cost sharing accounting
Experience with SOX compliance
Description
Direct end-to-end accounting activities for U.S. Government, FMS, and DCS programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence.
Mentor, coach, and develop a technically strong, compliance-driven contract accounting organization.
Maintain rigorous compliance with ASC 606, US GAAP, FAR, DFARS, CAS, and all relevant government contracting standards.
Partner with business development and pricing teams to shape proposals and awards that align with optimal revenue recognition outcomes.
Analyze new awards, modifications, and proposals to determine accounting treatment, assess financial risk, and evaluate cash-flow implications.
Oversee revenue accounting for long-duration, milestone-based, firm-fixed-price, cost-plus, and incentive-fee arrangements.
Lead month-end close, reconciliations, contract asset/liability reporting, EAC updates, and consolidated financial statement support.
Collaborate with Program Finance, FP&A, Contracts, and Program Managers to monitor performance, forecasts, and variances.
Resolve complex accounting, operational, and contractual issues with sound judgment and authoritative expertise.
Establish and refine policies, procedures, and controls aligned with regulatory requirements and corporate standards.
Ensure robust control environments and adherence to SOX and internal financial policies.
Support internal/external audits, DCAA/DCMA reviews, and RCA activities with defensible documentation and analysis.
Champion automation, ERP/SAP enhancements, and scalable process redesign to improve efficiency and accuracy.
Protect confidential financial, contractual, and export-controlled data with strict discipline.
Perform other duties as required to support organizational goals.

The pay range for this position is $155000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
