Job Title: Electrical Engineer Technician
Job Description
This role focuses on supporting verification and validation (VV) test stand builds by assembling, wiring, and testing electrical and electronic systems. The Electronics Design Engineer installs interface panels, integrates National Instruments test and measurement equipment, and assembles cable harnesses within complex test stands. The position requires a strong mechanical aptitude, a solid understanding of electrical and electronic systems, and the ability to interpret schematics and diagrams while contributing to reliable and safe test setups.
Responsibilities
Assist in the build and integration of VV test stands, ensuring all components are assembled accurately and safely.
Run wire and cable within test stands, routing and terminating connections according to electrical schematics and assembly instructions.
Install and integrate interface panels into test stands, ensuring correct mechanical fit and electrical connectivity.
Assemble National Instruments test and measurement equipment into test stands, including mounting, wiring, and basic configuration.
Conduct point-to-point measurements to verify continuity, correct wiring, and proper signal paths throughout the test stand.
Assemble and install cable harnesses within test stands, including cutting, crimping, labeling, and bundling cables to meet design and safety requirements.
Read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams independently, and apply them to daily assembly and wiring tasks.
Make minor modifications to schematics and drawings under the guidance of senior staff to support design updates or improvements.
Follow detailed assembly instructions, procedures, and protocols to ensure consistent and high-quality builds.
Apply knowledge of IEC, CE, and UL standards during assembly and integration activities under moderate supervision.
Create and execute structured test plans to validate the performance and reliability of assembled test stands.
Collect, review, and report test data, using intermediate understanding of electrical circuit principles to identify issues and support troubleshooting.
Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve assembly, wiring, and test issues and to implement corrective actions.
Maintain an organized work area, manage tools and test equipment properly, and follow established safety procedures.
Essential Skills
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and diagrams independently, including understanding symbols, wiring routes, and component references.
Capability to make minor modifications to schematics and drawings with guidance from senior staff.
Proven experience in assembly of electrical systems and components, following detailed instructions, procedures, and protocols.
Knowledge of IEC, CE, and UL standards and the ability to apply them during assembly work with moderate supervision.
Hands-on experience with hardware assembly and electronic assembly in a test or lab environment.
Ability to assemble National Instruments test and measurement equipment into test stands and connect associated wiring.
Competence in running wire and cable, installing interface panels, and assembling cable harnesses within test stands.
Intermediate understanding of electrical circuit principles, including voltage, current, resistance, and basic circuit behavior.
Ability to create and execute structured test plans to validate electrical and electronic systems.
Experience using test equipment for point-to-point measurements and verification of wiring and connectivity.
Skill in testing and data review, including collecting, organizing, and reporting test results.
Strong mechanical aptitude, including comfort with tools, mechanical assembly, and physical integration of components.
Basic knowledge of electrical and electronics systems, including PCB assemblies, electronic circuits, and system interfaces.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with schematic capture tools and the ability to work from detailed electrical drawings.
Experience assembling and wiring PCB-based systems within larger electrical or test assemblies.
Exposure to structured engineering or lab environments where standards and procedures guide daily work.
Attention to detail and a methodical approach to assembly, wiring, and testing tasks.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to assist in troubleshooting wiring, connectivity, and test issues.
Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other team members.
Ability to follow safety guidelines and quality procedures consistently.
Work Environment
The role is based in a hands-on test and lab environment focused on building and validating VV test stands. You will work with National Instruments test and measurement equipment, electrical and electronic hardware, cable harnesses, and interface panels. The position involves frequent use of hand tools, test instruments, and measurement devices for wiring, assembly, and point-to-point verification. Work typically takes place around benches, racks, and test fixtures where attention to safety, organization, and cleanliness is essential. You will follow established procedures, standards such as IEC, CE, and UL, and collaborate closely with engineering and technical staff in a structured, process-driven setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Collins, CO.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
