Job Title: Quality Control Adjuster I
Job Description
The Quality Control Adjuster I performs a variety of quality control tests on production batches to ensure that all products meet established specifications before and during filling. This role focuses on testing color, gloss, viscosity, and physical properties, determining necessary adjustments to bring products into specification, and maintaining accurate records and compliance with established procedures and safety standards. This is a first-shift role with hours from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. , including a 30-minute lunch break, providing a consistent daytime schedule.
Responsibilities
Perform a wide range of quality control tests on production batches, including but not limited to color, gloss, viscosity, and physical properties.
Determine and implement appropriate adjustments required to bring products into established quality specifications.
Verify that all batches meet required color limits and that all products meet specifications prior to filling.
Validate that product remains within specification at the time of filling and approve final fill check panels for production.
Keep accurate and complete records of batch adjustments, fill checks, and related data on batch tickets.
Prepare and maintain fill check panels for production batches.
Follow all ISO procedures and adhere strictly to documented test methods.
Work on various short-term projects to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Quality Control Department as assigned by the Quality Control Supervisor.
Transfer hazardous wastes such as filters, rags, scrap paint, and solvents to the designated satellite hazardous waste area when required.
Ensure all hazardous waste containers are labeled correctly and in compliance with applicable requirements.
Complete required annual RCRA training and apply that knowledge to daily work activities involving hazardous materials.
Maintain clean, organized workstations and a tidy retain storage area in line with 5S and good housekeeping practices.
Follow all health and safety policies and procedures, taking reasonable care of personal safety and the safety of others.
Promptly highlight unsafe conditions and cooperate with safety personnel and supervisors in stopping any activity operating in an unsafe condition.
Multitask effectively in a production environment while maintaining accuracy and completeness of assigned tasks and paperwork.
Essential Skills
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Hands-on experience using draw down methods for paint or coating evaluation.
Proficiency with viscosity testing and related measurement equipment.
Experience with color testing equipment and color adjustment software.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in testing and documentation.
Ability to complete assigned tasks thoroughly and on time while managing multiple priorities.
Knowledge and practice of good housekeeping standards and 5S principles.
Understanding of and adherence to health and safety policies, including the responsibility to report unsafe conditions.
Ability to follow ISO procedures and established test methods consistently.
Capability to work safely with hazardous materials and comply with hazardous waste labeling and handling requirements.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Familiarity with quality control processes in a coatings, paint, or similar production environment.
Comfort working with physical testing equipment and interpreting test results.
Willingness to complete and maintain annual RCRA training.
Ability to collaborate with supervisors and team members on process improvement projects.
Strong written skills for accurate recordkeeping on batch tickets and quality documentation.

Work Environment
The position is based in a small manufacturing environment with approximately eight employees on the production floor, fostering a collaborative and focused atmosphere. The facility handles paint products, so there is a constant paint odor in the work area. Workstations and storage areas follow 5S and good housekeeping practices, emphasizing cleanliness, organization, and safety. The role involves working around production equipment, quality testing instruments, and hazardous materials, with all work performed in accordance with established safety procedures and environmental regulations.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fontana, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00/hr.
