Job Title: Project Manager - Mission Critical (Data Center Construction)
This role leads the full lifecycle delivery of complex mission critical projects, including data centers and high-performance infrastructure, from preconstruction through closeout. You will oversee all construction activities, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to rigorous quality and performance standards. The position is ideal for an experienced construction project manager who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working on large, technically sophisticated facilities.
Responsibilities
Lead mission critical and data center construction projects from preconstruction planning through final closeout and turnover.
Oversee all phases of construction, including scheduling, budgeting, procurement, and field execution to ensure projects finish on time and within budget.
Coordinate project activities across internal teams, subcontractors, design partners, and stakeholders to maintain alignment on scope, schedule, and quality expectations.
Manage project documentation, including contracts, drawings, specifications, change orders, and turnover packages.
Review and manage change orders, ensuring accurate scope definition, cost impacts, and schedule implications.
Collaborate closely with design and engineering teams to resolve constructability issues and maintain design intent.
Monitor construction progress and quality, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and industry standards.
Oversee MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) coordination and installation, ensuring integration with critical infrastructure requirements.
Support and manage commissioning activities, including planning, execution, and documentation of system testing and validation.
Ensure that all critical infrastructure systems meet performance, reliability, and redundancy requirements for mission critical operations.
Facilitate communication between field teams and leadership, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and mitigation plans.
Support the preparation and completion of turnover documentation, ensuring all required records, manuals, and certifications are accurate and complete.
Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on site, ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
Collaborate with stakeholders involved in federal or secure facility projects, when applicable, to ensure compliance with relevant requirements.
Essential Skills
5-10+ years of experience in construction project management, with a strong focus on mission critical or data center projects.
Proven experience leading commercial construction projects from preconstruction through closeout.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong understanding of MEP systems and their integration in mission critical environments.
Knowledge of commissioning processes, including planning, execution, and documentation.
Demonstrated ability to manage project budgets, schedules, and change orders effectively.
Experience in project coordination involving multiple stakeholders, including contractors, designers, and engineers.
Ability to interpret and work with construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues in a fast-paced construction environment.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to lead teams and manage complex workflows.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience delivering hyperscale or enterprise data center projects.
Familiarity with commissioning processes and turnover documentation for critical infrastructure facilities.
Exposure to federal or secure facility projects is a plus.
Background in design or engineering coordination within commercial construction.
Experience working with large general contractors on complex, high-value projects.
Motivation to work on high-performance infrastructure projects with stringent reliability and quality requirements.
Work Environment
This position is onsite at a large campus in Rock Hill, NC, working within a major general contractor environment focused on complex mission critical and data center projects. You will collaborate closely with field teams, engineers, and trade partners in an active construction setting that emphasizes safety, quality, and teamwork. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $140000.00 - $190000.00/yr.
