Job Title: Staff AccountantJob Description
This Staff Accountant role focuses on preparing accurate financial statements, performing detailed bank reconciliations, and creating high-quality journal entries for assigned business units. The position supports general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, fixed assets, and related configuration and posting activities, including work with foreign currency. The Staff Accountant collaborates closely with shared services departments, assists management with process improvements, and helps ensure the integrity and timeliness of financial reporting.
Responsibilities
Prepare and review journal entries for assigned entities in accordance with established policies.
Perform general accounting functions, including activities related to funding tax escrow accounts, paying property and tangible taxes, and reporting tangible taxes.
Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations for assigned entities and determine correcting entries for reconciling items.
Review team members' journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations as assigned to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Record journal entries to clear outstanding items identified through reconciliations and other analyses.
Review financial statements for assigned business units prior to management review to verify integrity, accuracy, and completeness.
Create and post journal entries, analyze financial results, and ensure that all deadlines are met and deliverables are completed to a high standard.
Review bank reconciliations for assigned business units and record related journal entries to clear outstanding items.
Assist management in improving efficiencies by evaluating existing accounting processes and procedures to enhance the accuracy of financial statements.
Verify that financial data and supporting documentation are accurate, complete, and properly recorded.
Document processes and procedures for assigned accounting functions to support consistency and compliance.
Perform ad-hoc reporting, financial analysis, and modeling as requested by management.
Support special projects assigned by management, contributing accounting expertise and analytical support.
Assist team members and internal stakeholders by providing timely and accurate financial information.
Assist auditors with year-end reporting and provide necessary schedules, reconciliations, and documentation.
Deliver a high level of service to internal customers and colleagues at all times.
Work effectively with team members within Accounting and across departments to implement changes and complete special projects aligned with company-wide goals and objectives.
Essential Skills
Strong proficiency in bank reconciliations and journal entries, with the ability to identify and resolve reconciling items.
Hands-on experience with general ledger accounting, including month-end close processes.
Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements and balance sheet reconciliations.
Knowledge of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Ability to work with foreign currency transactions and understand their impact on financial statements.
Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis, reporting, and modeling.
Proficiency with word processing tools for documentation and reporting.
Comprehensive knowledge of accounting theory, regulations, systems, and procedures.
Bachelor's degree (4-year degree) in Accounting, Finance, or an equivalent field.
Ability to meet deadlines, manage multiple deliverables, and maintain high-quality output.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
Effective collaboration skills to work across departments and support shared services functions.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in timeshare or hotel industry accounting is preferred.
Experience managing accounting or finance staff is preferred.
Experience with Oracle or similar enterprise accounting systems is preferred.
Experience assisting with audits and year-end reporting is beneficial.
Ability to evaluate and improve accounting processes and procedures.
Strong communication skills to support internal customers and cross-functional teams.
Work Environment
This position operates primarily in a remote work environment with defined restrictions and requires proximity to the Orlando area to attend on-site meetings or work sessions as needed. The role supports a large international organization in the timeshare sector, offering significant opportunities for professional growth and long-term career development. Work involves extensive use of accounting systems and tools, including general ledger platforms and advanced Excel, and requires regular collaboration with accounting team members and other departments across the organization.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.
