Job Title: Mechanical Engineer - HVAC Design
Job Description
This role supports HVAC engineering projects by assisting with design development, redlines, and preparation of construction documents for commercial facilities. The mechanical engineer performs basic calculations, equipment selection, and load analysis under supervision while helping ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards. This position collaborates closely with engineers, project teams, and stakeholders to support the execution of HVAC system designs and equipment upgrades.
Responsibilities
Support HVAC engineering projects by assisting with design development, redlines, and preparation of construction documents.
Perform basic mechanical and HVAC calculations, equipment selection, and load analysis under the guidance of other engineers.
Assist in ensuring that projects are completed on schedule and in accordance with quality and performance standards.
Collaborate with engineers and project teams to support the execution of HVAC system designs and upgrades.
Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders to gather and clarify project requirements.
Contribute to the preparation of scopes of work, drawings, and submittals for HVAC systems and equipment upgrades.
Help review drawings and specifications for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable standards and codes.
Maintain organized project documentation and assist with tracking project progress and deliverables.
Stay current with industry standards, codes, and emerging HVAC technologies and apply this knowledge to project work.
Communicate effectively with cross-functional team members to support project coordination and performance.
Demonstrate strong organization, time management, and multitasking to manage multiple project tasks simultaneously.
Contribute to a positive, collaborative team environment and support team development and performance.
Essential Skills
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
Minimum of 1 year of experience in the commercial HVAC space.
Strong experience in refrigeration and air conditioning systems.
Mechanical engineering fundamentals with a focus on HVAC design.
Ability to perform basic HVAC calculations, equipment selection, and load analysis under supervision.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with project teams and stakeholders.
Demonstrated leadership abilities appropriate to supporting and influencing team performance.
Self-starter mindset with proven team-building and motivational skills.
Excellent organization, time management, and multitasking capabilities.
Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and accuracy in technical work.
Ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and contribute to project performance.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit preferred.
Familiarity with industry standards and codes related to HVAC and mechanical systems.
Interest in staying current with emerging HVAC technologies and best practices.
Ability to contribute to the preparation of scopes, drawings, and submittals for HVAC systems and equipment upgrades.

Work Environment
This is an in-office position with standard working hours, providing a structured and collaborative environment for project work and professional development. The role involves working closely with engineers and cross-functional teams on commercial HVAC design projects, utilizing design tools such as AutoCAD and Revit (where applicable) and following established engineering processes and documentation standards. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.00 - $67.00/hr.
