The Commercial Finance Analyst supports the sales organization in driving profitable growth by building deal models, developing sales reports, and managing pricing for corporate accounts in the food retail division. This role combines rigorous financial analysis with a strong commercial mindset to evaluate customer proposals, guide decision-making, and ensure that sales initiatives deliver sustainable profitability.
Responsibilities
Partner with sales teams to develop and evaluate deal proposals, ensuring they support strong sales and profitability growth.
Build and maintain financial models to assess the financial impact and profitability of customer proposals and commercial decisions.
Prepare and deliver standardized sales reporting, including sales reports by salesperson and by customer.
Monitor and maintain pricing data to ensure pricing is accurate, updated appropriately, and aligned with financial objectives.
Use Microsoft Excel to create on-the-fly financial models tailored to specific situations rather than relying on standard templates.
Support approximately six salespeople by providing behind-the-scenes financial analysis and guidance for customer proposals.
Collaborate closely with sales managers and the finance team to support corporate accounts in the food retail (grocery) sector.
Analyze profit and loss impacts of proposed deals and make recommendations to help ensure sound financial decisions.
Use sales forecasting and commercial finance insights to help identify opportunities for sales and profitability growth.
Leverage Power BI exposure to support reporting and analysis where applicable.
Work quickly and accurately under time pressure, delivering financial insights that are sufficiently robust to move deals forward.
Become fully operational and able to work independently within 1-2 months of starting in the role.
Essential Skills
Strong financial analysis background with experience in commercial finance and profit and loss analysis.
Proficiency in financial modeling, including building models from scratch to support deal evaluation and decision-making.
Intermediate level proficiency or higher in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas and functions for financial modeling.
Experience with sales reporting and sales forecasting in a commercial environment.
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple salespeople and corporate accounts.
Ability to think quickly, work with agility, and make sound, commercially minded recommendations under time constraints.
Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively support sales teams and the broader finance function.
Exposure to Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Work Environment
This role operates within a traditional first-shift schedule, generally aligned to an 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. workday, with some flexibility in start time. The position follows a standard 40-hour work week and requires three days onsite each week, specifically Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, with the remaining time typically worked remotely. The role supports the food retail division, focusing on grocery store customers, where the broader organization delivers cleaning, sanitizing, and food safety expertise and auditing to major brands. The Commercial Finance Analyst works in a corporate finance setting, supporting sales managers and salespeople who maintain relationships with customers' corporate offices. Approximately 40% of the work involves repetitive, standardized reporting such as sales reporting and pricing updates, while about 60% consists of more dynamic, interactive work with salespeople to build and refine financial models and sales proposals. The environment emphasizes collaboration, agility, and responsiveness, with a focus on using tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI to deliver timely financial insights. The position is initially structured as a limited-duration role, with potential for extension depending on business needs and organizational changes.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $40.14/hr.
