Under general supervision, an employee in this class performs skilled new plumbing installation and extension, replacement, alteration, maintenance, repair of plumbing, drainage and sewage disposal systems including, but not limited to, water supply/distribution pipes, drainage, vent pipes, building drains, fittings, hydrants, valves, plumbing, heating fixtures, traps, and water and drainage systems according to specifications in the State of Minnesota plumbing codes. An employee in this class trains and directs the work of licensed plumbers and plumber/fitters, laborers, other trades and maintenance employees, correctional facility Incarcerated person (IP). The lead work for this position is ongoing, daily responsibility to prioritize, schedule, assign, direct, guide, document and report on the work activities of subordinate workers so that the work is completed in an efficient and effective manner.

Minimum Qualifications

Possession of Minnesota Master Plumber's License and a valid Minnesota Class D Driver's license.

Leadership skills sufficient to provide leadwork direction that includes prioritizing and assigning job duties, directing, guiding and reporting on work activities of other staff.

Preferred Qualifications

The following qualifications are strongly desired of applicants seeking consideration for this position:

Commercial plumbing experience.

Experience working with electronic controlled plumbing.

Experience working in a correctional facility.

Physical Requirements

The completion of pre-placement physical components may be required for this position. These components may consist of a tuberculosis screening, commercial driver's license (CDL) drug test, and/or respirator clearance. The selected finalist may also be required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. Ad ditional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.

New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
